The Ultimate Fighting Championship on
Thursday confirmed that Jason MacDonald will step in for fellow Canadian Jason
Day in a bout with Jason Lambert on Sept. 6 at UFC 88 in Atlanta. The UFC’s Jason
trifecta keeps its “battle of the Jasons” intact.

A source close to the fight informed
MMAWeekly.com that Day suffered an elbow and biceps injury that required him to
have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury that will keep him out of the
fight with Lambert.

The bout was to be part of the
preliminary fight card for UFC 88, headlined by a fight between former UFC
light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and contender Rashad Evans.

Lambert is likely fighting for his
UFC career as he has lost three of his past four bouts in the Octagon. The fight
against MacDonald will be his 185-pound debut for the promotion.

MacDonald is coming off of an
exciting submission loss to Demian Maia just two weeks ago at UFC 87 in
Minneapolis. He will look to get back on track against Lambert.
