Luiz Cane, Tom Lawlor Sign Contract Extensions with the UFC

Posted on by Damon Martin

The recent rash of injuries that have plagued the UFC have made the fighters already under contract that much more important.

So with that the UFC has started to re-up with some of their fighters, placing them under new fight deals as old ones expire.

MMAWeekly.com first reported that bantamweight star Michael McDonald had signed a new 4-fight deal recently, and now to more fighters have upped their contracts as well.

Despite a 1-3 record over his last four fights, Brazilian Luiz Cane continues to be an exciting fighter inside the Octagon and the promotion has rewarded him with a new four fight contract with the UFC.

Cane made the announcement via his Twitter page on Friday.

“I just signed a 4 fight contract extension with the UFC,” wrote Cane. “Thank you God for one more blessing in my life!”

In addition to Cane signing a new deal, UFC middleweight Tom Lawlor also put pen to paper on a new 4-fight deal of his own.

Lawlor confirmed his signing to MixedMartialArts.com on Thursday.

Currently, neither Cane or Lawlor are signed for their next bouts, but with new contracts in hand it appears both are sticking around the UFC for the foreseeable future.

Good for Lawlor – he is a scrappy guy, but more importantly he is hilarious.
