Lionel Lanham Gets Only Significant Strikeforce Challengers 17 Medical Suspension

Strikeforce Challengers LogoStrikeforce Challengers 17, the promotion’s first event in Las Vegas, took place on Friday night at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort. Bobby Voelker won the main event, a rubber match with Roger Bowling.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released the post-fight suspensions for Strikeforce Challengers 17. The list was relatively short.

The only serious issue was Lionel Landham, who doctors believe has a fractured right orbital bone. He will have to get medical clearance for such a serious injury or risk sitting on the sidelines into next year.

Strikeforce Challengers 17 Medical Suspensions:

Roger Bowling – Suspended until Aug. 22, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 13, 2011

Joe Cason – Suspended until Aug. 22, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 13, 2011

TJ Cook – Suspended until Aug. 22, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 13, 2011

Lionel Lanham – Must have right orbital fracture cleared by an Ophthalmologist or no contest until Jan. 19, 2012. Minimum suspension is no contest until Sept. 6, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 22, 2011.

Ben Lagman – Suspended until Sept. 6, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 22, 2011

Brian McLaughlin – Suspended until Sept. 6, 2011, with no contact until Aug. 22, 2011
