It’s been an interesting 24 hours with talk centering around Tito Ortiz and Matt Lindland possibly squaring off in the WFA. Ortiz deflected some of the rumors yesterday on the Underground Forum when he said quote “No truth to this! Match is not signed.”
However Lindland talked to MMAWeekly’s Ryan Bennett last night and said, “I’ve been offered a three fight deal by the WFA. Right now we are looking it over and will make a decision soon.”
As far as the offer goes, Lindland seems very happy with the WFA’s offer. “It’s very fair. I’m not making Couture or Liddell money; however, I am making more money than I was recently with the other promotions.”
Who will his first fight be against? Lindland doesn’t know yet. “I think some sites are jumping the gun a bit. Tito was a name that was talked about, but there have been other names as well. Everyone will just have to wait and see.”
MMAWeekly.com has learned that the WFA’s first show will take place at the end of February or beginning of March in Las Vegas. It looks as though this will be the beginning of some action packed matches as the WFA wants to make a big splash in their coming out party after being dormant for a couple of years. Look for the company to sign big names for their first show.
