Strikeforce will return to Showtime just 6 days after their May 15 show, as the promotion goes to Portland, Ore for the latest installment of the Challengers Series on May 21 with home state fighter Matt Lindland leading the card.
The promotion confirmed the show on Tuesday, while also announcing Lindland’s placement on the card although no opponent has been named for him at this time.
Lindland’s last trip to the cage ended in a submission loss to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu worls champion, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, last December.
Also on the card will be rising star Tyron Woodley, who remains undefeated in his professional fight career, but will face a tough test in Team Quest fighter Nathan Coy.
Woodley has made short work of all of his opponents, never having been pushed past the second round in any fight, while Coy has been impressive during his time as well and holds wins over current UFC welterweights Rick Story and Mike Pierce.
Kerry Vera, wife of UFC light heavyweight fighter Brandon Vera, will look to move up in the women’s division during the May card as well when she faces Julianna Pena. Both fighters are undefeated and looking to make waves in the ever growing 135lb women’s division currently headed by champion Sarah Kaufman.
More fights for the upcoming Challengers card should be announced in the coming weeks.
