“A
lot of people are scared of him, but I’m not intimidated. I’m going to come
right at him,” said Matt Lindland prior to entering the ring with the #1
heavyweight fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko.

From
the opening moments of the fight, Lindland did just that. He came right at
Fedor and landed an overhand right that cut the Russian fighter. Lindland then
went for the takedown. Fedor instinctively grabbed the ropes, stopping his
attempt.

Fedor
eventually won the fight by armbar, but his grabbing of the ropes ignited a
firestorm of controversy.
