Legendary MMA Trainer Shawn Tompkins Passes Away

Famed MMA trainer and former fighter Shawn Tompkins has passed away.

Tompkins’ manager Gary Ibarra from AMR Group confirmed his passing to MMAWeekly.com on Sunday.

Tompkins was 37 years old.

While details are few and far between, Tompkins was in Canada and passed away on Saturday night.

Tompkins was one of the most legendary trainers in all of mixed martial arts, bringing several fighters to prominence over the years including Sam Stout, Chris Horodecki and many others.

A former coach in the International Fight League, Tompkins led Team Tompkins for many years, coaching some of the best in the sport to title runs and contender’s spots.

    • I would guess car accident ! He was in ontario this weekend traving by car to Hamilton Sat night !

    Reports say he was found dead.

    Meaning he was found dead in his home or something.

  5. Met Shawn several times, was a great guy. Very unfortunate to lose him, especially at such a young age…

  7. Shawn was found dead @ a friends house, he apparently died from a heart attack. RIP Mr. Tompkins

    FYI: He had an enlarged heart with a few clogged arteries!
