Lavar Johnson Out of UFC on Fox 5, Brendan Schaub Pulled from the Card

November 29, 2012

Dana White’s warning for fighters to tone it down is safe for the main card of UFC on Fox 5, but one of the top competitors on the FX prelims is now off the show.

Lavar Johnson has suffered a pulled groin and will be forced out of his scheduled fight against Brendan Schaub.

UFC President Dana White made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday night.

“Lavar Johnson is out of the Fox prelims with a pulled groin. He was fighting Brendan Schaub,” wrote White.

Schaub vs. Johnson was expected to be the featured bout on the UFC on Fox preliminary card airing on FX.

White did not mention if Schaub would get a new opponent or not, and calls to Schaub’s management team at Alchemist Management were not immediately returned to MMAWeekly.com at the time of publication.

UPDATE: Speaking to sources close to the fighter, MMAWeekly.com has learned that Brendan Schaub will not remain on the UFC on Fox 5 cared, and no replacement will be found in time for him to still fight.

Schaub will likely receive some compensation for his fight being pulled, and he’ll await the chance to fight on a card in the near future.
