Though she’s only a couple years into her MMA career, featherweight Latoya “Black Mamba” Walker has already figured out a system that works best for her.
“I’ve always stuck to the game plans that my coaches and I have developed and it’s turning out really well,” Walker told MMAWeekly.com. “I think I’ve had pretty strong performances. Of course, I’m always going to find areas I can improve.”
Walker will be getting an opportunity to step onto the largest stage she’s ever been on when she makes her Invicta FC debut on Friday. And while she admittedly gets jitters before a fight, she’s able to put the pressure of the situation behind her when she steps into the cage.
“I’m always nervous about all of my fights,” said Walker. “It is kind of natural. But I trust my training team and all that, and as long as I follow the plan, I know I’ll do well.
“I try to keep a cool head and everything and not let that affect me.”
“I pack a lot of power behind my punches,” said Walker. “Expect some heavy hands being thrown.
“As far as swinging for the fences, I never do that. I come from a boxing background, so I try to stay as technical as I can and look for whatever openings (Morgan) gives me.”

While a win at Invicta would be the biggest of Walker’s career, she’s not too concerned about what it could lead to as she keeps her eyes firmly affixed on the upcoming fight itself.
“I don’t really think that far ahead, I just focus on what I’ve got in front of me,” said Walker. “I pretty much just take it one day at a time.”
