The UFC Fight Night 53 fight card took a hit this week when it was reported that Chan Sung Jung, aka “The Korean Zombie,” suffered an injury that has forced him out of his co-main event fight with Akira Corassani.
Jung’s manager reportedly told MMA-in-Asia that his fighter suffered a strain of the same shoulder he had surgery on following his last fight.
Jung dislocated his shoulder in his challenge of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo on Aug. 3 of last year at UFC 163. Aldo went on to win the bout via TKO stoppage in the fourth round.
Although he hasn’t suffered any structural damage, Jung’s shoulder strain requires four weeks of rehabilitation and a doctor’s clearance before he can resume training, which necessitated his removal from the Oct. 4 card in Stockholm.
