After sustaining an injury that prevented him from taking on Matt Hughes for the UFC welterweight title, Karo Parysian will make his return to the UFC in April when he takes on Nick Thompson in an important match-up in the 170lb division. The fight will take place during UFC 59 in California.
Parysian was seen as the #1 contender for a title shot at Hughes, but a training injury kept him out of action and now with the rise of Georges St. Pierre and the return of B.J. Penn, he will have to work his way back to championship contention.
Nick Thompson made his debut at UFC 56 when he defeated Keith Wisniewski by unanimous decision, and a win over Parysian could catapult his ranking in the welterweight division.
Parysian will definitely be tested by Thompson who is a very experienced fighter with excellent wrestling and submission skill. In an already stacked division, a loss for either fighter could be simply devastating, but a win could mean a title shot in the not too distant future.
