UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is giving back to his community in Brazil with a couple charity auctions with 100-percent of the proceeds going to a noble cause.
Following his win over Kenny Florian at UFC 136, Aldo has put up two items on eBay to benefit the Nova Uniao community project, which purchases gi’s, mats, and other items as the team continues to help train underprivileged youths in the area.
“The Non-profit program is focused on teaching Jiu-Jitsu to underprivileged youths living in low-income housing developments situated on the hills of Rio de Janeiro. Referred to as “favelas”, life in these slums is hard and makes it very easy to fall into drugs, gangs, and violence. Through this program, aspiring fighters can take steps in the right path to begin their journey to follow in the footsteps of Aldo and be Champions of the future,” a release from Nova Uniao said.
The current auctions feature Jose Aldo’s sponsorship fight banner signed by the UFC featherweight champion as well as a Nova Uniao shirt autographed as well.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Nova Uniao community programs.
