“Rich did everything wrong… he’s just lucky, man.”
Not the words of praise that you’d expect out of your training partner following a TKO victory over a very tough Jason MacDonald. But for those of you that know Jorge Gurgel, it’s no surprise that this was his initial comment following Rich Franklin’s victory over MacDonald at UFC 68.
In this exclusive video interview, Gurgel not only talks more in-depth about Franklin’s performance and explains his comments above, but also talks about his pending return to the Octagon.
The “Bionic Brazilian” talked about the status of his knee following his latest surgery. “I feel great… I fight, then take a year off and rehab. I fight, take a year off and rehab…” Gurgel quipped. Gurgel’s last fight was a decision win over Danny Abaddi last September.
He does have plans in the works for his return this summer and even let us in on the date he’ll be back. Gurgel also gave his thoughts on the tremendous crowd in Columbus, Ohio and the prospect of the UFC bringing the show to his hometown of Cincinnati.
This exclusive interview, plus another interview with Gleison Tibau discussing his win at UFC 68, are both up now at MMAWeekly TV’s In The Cage.
