Jon-Jones-UFC-126-Prefight_4718Jon Jones is coming back to Sin City.

Jones will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 170 in Las Vegas on Feb. 22, UFC officials announced on Wednesday evening.

Jones and Teixeira were originally announced as headliners for the UFC 169 card, which takes place on Feb. 1, but then taken off the card after UFC president Dana White said the deal to have them fight on that date was never done.

Jones (19-1) won the 205-pound title in 2011 and has successfully defended the belt six consecutive times; a UFC record. His last defense came against Alexander Gustafsson in what was arguably his toughest test to date, leaving the Octagon bloodier and bruised more than ever before.

Teixeira (22-2) is undefeated in the UFC, picking up wins over former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson, James Te Huna, and most recently Ryan Bader with a first-round technical knockout at UFC Fight Night 28 in September. Nineteen of Teixeira’s 22 wins have been finishes.

UFC 170 currently has no other fights announced. will update on the card as more information becomes available.

Suspect JBJ is a bit too much for Teixeira, but seems like the most likely no.1 contender at this point,

I dont know how much of you out there believe Glover can beat Jon, but im one of the believers. I really believe Glover will become new champ. Imo he has everything he needs to pull this off. Its insane how people still talk about the rematch with Gustafsson, even Jon is talking about the opponents he’s gettin. It looks like everyone is forgettin Teixeira here, so it can easily backfire. Than i guess its going to be even a bigger shocker if it actually happens!

JBJ will beat Glover. he’s too fast and will avoid the bombs.

If Glover wins does Jones get an automatic rematch or will Gus be Glover’s first opponant as champ?

  • Every fight I’ve seen Teixeira fight was impressive. I can’t wait to watch this one, it’s going to be THE BOMB
