Jon Jones’ Video Message to Critics: “It’s My Career, Not Yours”

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones wants to fight Daniel Cormier instead of Alexander Gustafsson next.

Jones and Gustafsson fought to a controversial decision at UFC 165 in September 2013.  Jones won the fight on the judges’ scorecards, but many felt it could have gone to Gustafsson. Ever since their first meeting, a rematch has been expected, planned and highly anticipated. The fight won the 2013 Fight of the Year award.

Gustafsson has signed the bout agreement for the rematch, but Jones has not.

On Tuesday, Jones posted a video on his Instagram account with a message to his critics.  He has since taken the video down, but you can still see it, for the time being, by watching in the above video player.

He’s scared aWWwe, but besides that fact he did win a decision whether a close one or not, so to hell with Gustafsson!! Maybe he should try a little harder next time. Phuck these repeat fights, I want to see Cormier get his chance he deserves it.

  • Denny Swain

Its funny that jones asked to fight gus first time, then gus popped that cherry and jones running now. Verbal contracts were agreed on and gus should sue

    • put me in the sauna coach

he knows Gus has the perfect skill set to beat him. He moves around so well its near impossible to take him down. He knows it’ll be another war…and wants no part of it.

  • Mma monster

Rashad Evans was right he is an asshole.

  • MMA Monster

Rashad said it ” You think I’m arrogant wait till you see Jones true colors”.

    • Usmc8408

You’re totally right. I remember when they split up rashad saying we haven’t seen the real jon jones, one that is cocky, arrogant, full of himself and not the “alter boy” he likes to make himself look like. It’s starting to come out, but you can see it in his eyes…..there’s a real prick still in there waiting to come out.

  • Denny Swain

Gus was verbally promised a title shot next if he beat manuwa and gus carried out his part of bargain. This is a oral contract that gus can sue for violating it immediately.

    • TheCerealKiller

Lol! Sorry, it doesn’t work like that. Jones is not a slave.

      • earlsimmons

If only we could go back in time and change things…… World would be a better place.

        • AXE MURDERER

GOT YOUR WHITE HOOD & ROBE DO YOU? GRANDMASTER BITCH!

        • TheCerealKiller

Wow, now that’s a racist hiding behind a quest account.

  • Denny Swain

Jon jones just crapped himself when he knows gus is next

  • put me in the sauna coach

I don’t think I remember a champion ever being so whiny about critics. The life blood of the sport are the fans, don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

    • TheCerealKiller

He already beat Gus, bring on DC and Rumble! Then after a few more fights, give Gus a second chance to do what he failed to do the first fight. Hell, on the same card as the DC fight, pit Gus and Rumble against each other for the next shot.

  • Austin, TX

He has crooked ugly stupid teeth. i just noticed it. Hey Jones take some of that money you make beating up smaller men and get that fixed.

Oh hey Jones ps: you’re not a Christian no matter how many stupid needy tattoos you get across your idiotic chest. You’re a walking lie.
    guy’s a Grand Douche Master. Level 7.
p.s. why do we let him talk? who airs these things?
oh hey one more thing Jon. I just figured it out watching this video you felt the need to make. You’re empty inside and you need something. Validation. It’s not gonna happen. You’ll never fill that emptiness you feel inside that you try to fill up with fighting and Christianity and women and cars. you’re broke. you’re unhappy.

    • TheCerealKiller

Validation? Really? He’s the p4p best fighter in the world right now. You don’t make any sense. You call him names, make fun of his teeth and do it all from behind your moms keyboard. This makes you a bigger douche bag.

      • Austin, TX

I think there are a few million people around the globe who would agree with me, my friend. My mom’s keyboard? Not even close. I’m a 44 year old grown man dog. Ya know what I’m sayin b*tch.

        • TheCerealKiller

I’ve heard of a man -child, but never a man-dog. I have no idea what you are saying, b*tch.

          • Austin, TX

Yeah. thats what i thought, killer.

        • AXE MURDERER

YA, ALL WHITE PEOPLE YOU GRANDMASTER BITCH, WHEN YOU PEOPLE, YA YOU PEOPLE CALL HIM A DIVA YOU REALLY WANT TO CALL HIM THE N WORD! ITS YOUR CODE WORD!

  • HammerHouser

I kind of see his point, even though I wouldn’t mind seeing them bang one more time….. Jon Jones has EVERYTHING to lose and practically NOTHING to gain with another war………But trust me, if Jon Jones keeps on winning, they will definitely meet again. As long as Gusta doesn’t get beat by someone like Seth Petruzelli (The man who dropped the stock price of Kimbo in 14 seconds)
This could also be a business move on his part….Maybe Mayweather is his adviser. Showing him how to extract the most amount of money for a fight.

  • Ian Price

I hate him. But alas he’s right. Fighting DC is hardly a duck. In fact I truly believe it will be his demise.

  • sultanofswat

Was he asleep when he made tho video. Open your eyes Bones! I think DC could take him down and lay on him for 5 rounds and takethe ddecision. I thought Glover would do more damage than he did. I’d love to see Gus and Jones go at it again, but I think Jones could make the adjustments he needs to beat Gus. DC as champ would be great in my eyes

  • MMA Monster

Pound for pound dirtiest fighter in UFC.

  • Lt. Dangle

He’s not just gonna go away, u gonna have to fight him sooner or later.

  • JR

J J last time I check you won the fight against Gus, but you didn’t finished him!!! so I guess you haven’t beat him like are you saying!! You kind look worse then him after the fight!!! You know he can beat you!!! You are scared BOY!!!!!!

    • MasonMaurer

Dana will make him fight. “Fight or we’ll take the belt”

  • MasonMaurer

You’ve began a career as a Professional Pussy? Not surprised given you like to challenge men twice your age to fights. Can’t wait until the UFC’s champ at 205 isn’t a bitch.

  • Poeticguy

Actually, I agree with Bones on this one..the guy can choose who he feels deserves to fight him next..Gustafson will eventually face him however, if he feels that he already gave him a chance and he failed..he can definitely decline to sign the rematch and face DC instead..he’s not a coward..he did it just because he can..whoever calls him a coward..you stick it up your behind and whine about it.

    • kiss44

      How do Jones’s nuts taste?

  • TheCerealKiller

Gus has one, that’s 1, top ten win in the UFC over Shogun. He lost to Phil Davis and Jon Jones. He just beat Jimi Manu-whoever and people think he deserves another title shot? Other guys deserve there shot as well. DC deserves his shot and Rumble is on a big streak as well. Like I said in response to someone below; Jones/DC & Gus/Rumble on the same card. The two winners face each other for the belt next.

    • Maddawgmar

Jon Jones had only 1 top ten win when he got the fight with Shogun. And Bader was a questionable top ten to begin with. And by your logic Daniel Cormier hasn’t beat but 1 top ten guy in the division, so why should he get it? Gus has a debatable decision loss to the champ, I think that gives him an edge in the rankings.

      • Dragon Kid

Bader wasn’t questionable. He was undefeated at the time he and Jones fought each other.

        • earlsimmons

undefeated beating c level fighters doesnt make you good bro.

          • TheCerealKiller

That’s all Gus has done so far.

          • Martin

Aside from Barnett (arguably), you can say the SAME EXACT THING about DC.

          • TheCerealKiller

He destroyed the legend Hendo, Barnett, Frank Mir, Bigfoot (who just fought for a title) and Big Country. No, you can’t say the same thing about DC. Do me the favor and name which big name fighter Gus beat besides Shogun, who is on a massive decline.

          • Martin

Henderson: on the decline (has no business fighting at LHW off TRT)

            Mir: on the decline

Bigfoot: only got a title shot because Overeem got injured and the UFC wanted to keep JDS vs. Mark Hunt

Big Country: Mr. Underachiever? The guy who’ll never get a title shot unless he’s gifted one (like Bigfoot).

Yes, I can say the same thing about DC. It would be a different story if he didn’t fight guys that were on the verge of retiring or actually took things seriously (Nelson). It would also be a different story if he didn’t risk going to a decision with Henderson and avoided the decision with Mir and Nelson all together.

          • Dragon Kid

Doesn’t change the fact he was still undefeated when he faced Jones at the time. Jones faced C level guys too before he won the title. It’s called being a rising star.

    • Austin, TX

So by that logic Cain shouldn’t have gotten JDs again for the title after beating Bigfoot SIlva when he (Cain) wasn’t a title holder. (He had lost to JDS)? thats the way it works plenty of time. They get another shot after beating another contender. Besides everybody wants to see Gus and him again. You are in the minority. 6 or 7 people out of ten in polling want Gus not Dc next. Make sense now? Whats the problem? Get off Jones’ d*ck. You just don’t want your man to lose? He should fight whoever they put in front of him like a true champ. Not a diva, which is what he is. (He moaned about Gus’s next opponents a few months ago. He was afraid it might make the rematch easier.) Who the hell bitches about their opponents opponents??? A f*kin diva thats who. Yeah, he’s the number 1 p4p diva.

    • Chris Morgan

The UFC rankings are a joke. The only rankings that truly matter are champion and #1 contender. Like it or not, Gus earned the right to a rematch with his performance last September. To date, Gus has been the toughest opponent Jones has faced. Also, it wasn’t that long ago Jones was claiming DC was nowhere close to a title shot? Why the sudden change of heart now?

Look at the picture of Gus and Jones in the hospital. Can you think of anyone else besides Gus who has beaten Jones so badly that a hospital trip was required? Jones vs. Gus 2 is the fight to make at this point. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Cormier vs. the winner would make sense for the New Year’s PPV or the Super Bowl weekend PPV.

    • MuayThaiFood

How is this more relevant than comparing Gus’s performance against Jones to other top tens that have fought him?

  • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

This is like the Seahawks saying we dont have to play the 49er’s again in the playoffs we all ready beat them once this year. Dumb. Dana needs to put this to rest before every champ starts doing the same thing

    • TheCerealKiller

Your comparison is asking the Seahawks to replay the Super Bowl because it was close. No, come back next season and earn another shot.

      • earlsimmons

Your example is horrible. Points in football are not judged by someone determining whether they should get them or not. If hes in the endzone…..well then the team gets points. Now if the losing team had some additional points added to the scoreboard….sounds like what the judges did for jones. Have to love affirmative action and the left.

        • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

except points in football are made when in the endzone, no doubts about it. In MMA points are if’y by the judges and most people believe Gus beat Jones

      • thepoliticalronin

Gustafsson did earn another shot – look at the rankings you half-wit.

        http://www.ufc.com/rankings

  • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

And no Jones didnt “beat” Gus, he was GIFTED a decision.

    • TheCerealKiller

It was Gus’s job to go in there and take the belt from Jones. He failed to do so. Stop already.

      • mmalive

        Great point man.

The rest of the DUMMY Jones haters FAILED to realize that point.

      • earlsimmons

You make it sound to beat a champ you need to win all five rds in dominate fashion. You are a moron.

      • Jon Doe

This is exactly the problem in mma right now and in boxing, fans come and make excuses to protect who they favor but in reality the fact is a true champion takes on all challengers no matter what. The fact that the people would question you as a Champion should be reason enough to take out the allege doubt once and for all and shut the mouth of all the naysayers. This is a FACT but.. this is not what Jones is doing. GSP wanted to prove without a doubt his win over BJ the1st time (because everyone said BJ won, familiar huh..) was not a fluke. So what did he do? Fought him 3x over putting away any and all doubt. No one today doubts who is the better fighter. But here you are the prototypical Fanboy making excuses. “Jones Won” “Gus didnt take it the belt’ “Gus had his chance” stop already” get over it” blah blah blah.. If he is your true Champion the only response should be “Jones, go get him, prove them all wrong” But No it is not, is it?
I guarantee that logic does not hit you, you will somehow make another excuse.

        • TheCerealKiller

The only thing Gus supporters have are excuses. I equally support both guys, great fighters. I just don’t want another 2 years of the two of them fighting each other, like Cain/JDS. What is Gus wins? Do you not give the most dominant LHW champ of all time a rematch?

          • Jon Doe

where was the excuse? if Jon Jones is so tired of people criticizing him, wouldn’t it make more sense just to prove the first fight wasn’t a fluke/gift and shut everybody up? Instead of making childish videos explaining yourself? Every single day of your life you are the “best” but… then somebody always has to mention that “1 time” isn’t that enough for you to go “alright dang it! I’ll do it!!”
also on Cain/JDS (you mentioned this) did Cain not lose the first fight? Imagine if Dos Santos went around doing exactly what Jones is doing. My god.. Dos Santos would boiled alive by the fans. So what happened then? Cain came back with a vengeance and put no doubt that the first lost was a fluke not once but 2x. Now.. are you saying Jones will handle Gus 2 more times “for another 2 years” like Cain vs Dos Santos?

          • TheCerealKiller

Champs get automatic rematches, not contenders. Contenders go back to the drawing board and win a few fights first. Why shouldn’t Gus have to go fight another actual contender? Jimi? Give me a break. Give him Rashad or Rumble. If he wins, he is next.

          • Jon Doe

“Jones Won” “Gus didnt take it the belt’ “Gus had his chance” stop already” get over it”

sorry I left out the “Gus needs to work his way back up” excuse, seems to be a favorite of fanboys.
Champs this, Best ever, Clearly “WON” not even close”
So many excuses 1 after another. You Win! Gus is garbage, Jones walked all over him, rag-dolled him, easy win didnt even take any damage. Gus needs to go to Bellator where the competition is easier (coincidentally away from Jones) its over move it along, nothing to see. There.. Fanboys rejoice! your paper Champion is safe. Was that good?

          • greaseygranny

Huh? Gus supporters have a #1 contender and no excuses. After taking it to Jones and then seeing what Jones did to Glover, who wouldn’t wanna see Gus vs. Jones again? It seems to me that you’re the one making excuses. If you don’t want to see that fight again, you are a Jones fan. Not an MMA fan. END OF. One of the best fights in the last 10 years.

  • greaseygranny

He can’t deal with Gus’s reach. People on here saying that the #1 guy should have to wait after that epic war. Wtf are you people watching, lol? People that are saying Jones isn’t ducking Gus are Jones fans. Not MMA fans. Who in the hell wouldn’t wanna see that fight again? What sort of champion wouldn’t wanna prove to everyone that thinks he lost that fight, that he didn’t. And just for the record, a champ shouldn’t be able to choose whom he fights. He should fight who they put in front of him. Guy is terrified of Gus. Look at his face for the love of baby Jesus.

    • TheCerealKiller
      • greaseygranny

Who said Gus won the fight? Quit eating crayons….

        • TheCerealKiller

          greasygranny… more than enough said.

Make a meme to explain that.

          • greaseygranny

You’re the one putting words in my mouth. I’m simply picking up what you’re throwing down bunky. Unless you don’t understand English, there’s an 50/50 chance that you are mentally retarded. I said he was running and ducking Gus. I said NOTHING about Gus winning the 1st fight. Act like a retard in this world and people will treat you as such. You seem to be the retard that doesn’t realize that he’s retarded, so you’re perfectly content with yourself…

          • TheCerealKiller

You liked your own comment… that son, is the definition of a retard.

          • greaseygranny

Not your son you retarded paratrooper. You come on here and call someone you don’t even know your son. You don’t even know who your own family members are and you’re pointing out the definition of retard? You make this poop way to easy. And why in the hell are you scrolling through who likes my posts? Little strange bud, but I guess that’s what retards do. Go back to acting like you train and are superior to others that post their opinion on an MMA forum.

  • uncle

A grown man shouldn’t have to explain himself.he knows
Gus will play dodgeball with his head!

  • Mawi H

He put it nicely.. It is my career not yours. Thus he is admitting, fighting Gus might end his career. But it does not work that way. He can do what ever he want after he handed it the belt.. not while hogging it. He is in the fight business.. By the way, along the way he is looking down at DC..

  • Mr.Pickles

    http://i.imgur.com/uTAoWTi.png

    Damage is NOT scored.

  • InternetBadass

All that is true except the part about him beating Gustafsson.

    • Dragon Kid

Tell that to Cormier. He scored it 3 rounds to 2 for Jones.

      • Ciganblowme

Cormier said Gus deserves the fight, end of story

        • Dragon Kid

Gus job was to take the belt from Jones and he failed.

          • TungMyBung

The judges failed the fans. Gus beat the s–t outta Jones and put him on a stretcher……lol

  • Beeber

    Is this a “black-white” thing?

    discuss

    • Austin, TX

You’re drunk Jon. Go home. no its not a black and white thing. Though you probably wish it were, douche.

  • elvi

man and here i thought mayweather was the most hated champion in combative sports but this man takes the cake with the fans!

    • Dragon Kid

At least jones is being honest even with all the hate. After all it is his choice who he wants to fight. He’s been the champ for three years now and can have his own say after all he’s done. Ungrateful fans continue to moan, whine and act disrespectful when something don’t go their way.

      • earlsimmons

“After all it is his choice who he wants to fight”— who told you this….Jon Jones? HA

        • Dragon Kid

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out a fighter gets to have some say once they become a long term champion. Then again, with ur arrogant response i presume you’ve only been an mma fan for 1-2 years.

          • Baller31

Um, no. The UFC decides, not the fighter. This has always been true–have you ever even watched UFC?

          • Dragon Kid

the UFC decides but the champ also has a say too. They’re the stars and the ones making money for the company. They get sponsored, marketed, become name value so eventually they have a say in certain matters.

  • Clean out whole div

I don’t blame jones if he beats DC he has cleaned the whole div now just for fun he can run back threw beating everyone again. For the record he can’t beat DC the only guy in the div that can beat jones in he wants the fight that’s what the man does

  • Truthcore

lol… how does Jones always say the wrong thing… now is he gonna claim that he was hacked again and it wasn’t him saying it?

Jones is extremely talented, but this guy is such an idiot. First, he came in acting like a quiet, good-natured, humble Christian fighter (and maybe that’s who he was) but definitely is not this anymore.

And that’s when people turned on him b/c after he won the title, it was obvious that he was very cocky, full of himself, a jerk, and sore winner; and doesn’t understand how he’s not likeable. I’ll tell him why.. it’s b/c people saw that he was a phony (personality wise).

You wanna know the perfect comparison of Jon Jones— he’s basically become the Kanye West of MMA. Starts out w/ a more reserved persona… but then believes his own hype and goes crazy and thinks he’s better than everyone. And always doin and sayin stupid things. Jones might as well marry that Kardashian that Odom dumped.

  • dgs

It blows my mind that ANYONE would think a fight with Cormier is somehow an easy fight compared to Gustafsson. Once again, I believe the comments about Jones being a “bitch,” “running scared from Gustafsson,” and all the rest of the peanut gallery comments are from people with little to no training or knowledge of the sport. The rest of us, who have been following the sport since it’s inception and have years of training in martial arts, know immediately that Cormier is just as dangerous as Gustafsson, if not more so. You wouldn’t know that however unless you trained or understood the mechanics of the game.

I would love it if the comments section of this site could be broken up between the new comers/couch potatoes/arm-chair quarterbacks, and those who are serious students and fans of the sport. If that were the case, I wouldn’t have to wade through all of the immature, senseless, and factually incorrect posts every time one of these articles comes up. Alas, I understand technically there is no way to do that, just wishful thinking on my part.

    • greaseygranny

I love idiots like you. Putting people down for having an opinion and pretending like you’re someone special in the fight game. Go back to humping farm animals and eating crayons. Only fake pile of arse on here is you. Nobody gives two turds that you pretend that you’ve been following the fight game since it’s inception. So engulfed into the fight game that you’re sitting on here being the person that you’re accusing everyone else of being. Vagina blood fart.

      • snapdad

        lol. well said

    • brad king

i disagree! just because someone knows more about mma than another doesnt mean s–t! obiviously you are here to make us all laugh!

    • Baller31

You’d obviously be grouped with the ignorant newbies who think theirs is the only valid opinion

    • Leon Coleman

Reach is everything for Jones. He specializes in using reach to dominate his opponents. With reach he will definitely beat Cormier easily. Cormier wouldn’t be able to close the distance without disadvantage. Gus is a much harder fight because Jones no longer has a reach advantage.

  • Chris Morgan

Maybe it’s just me, but Jon Jones acting like a spoiled child is starting to make Tito Ortiz look like a saint. How long ago was it that Jones was claiming that DC was nowhere near a title shot? Now he’s suddenly changed his tune and DC is a legitimate contender just when a rematch with Gus is close to being made official.

The fact of the matter is that Gus has been the toughest test for Jones thus far and it’s not surprising that Jones is doing everything he can to delay (and possibly avoid) that fight. If Jones has a problem with the people who have challenged for the title, perhaps he should consider relinquishing the belt.

    • deepgrim

i forgot about jones saying that about dc, did he say he needed a few fights first was it? Dc or gus should both be really tough fights, 2 completely different fights to prepare for. Before gus we were getting excitied about machida maybe taking a round of jones such was his dominance. i think he will end up fighting gus tho,,maybe he wants dc on shorter notice to give him a better chance but i feel dana will have his way in the end

      • Chris Morgan

Jones was basically saying that DC wasn’t worth his time and that his record outside of LHW didn’t matter. I’m sure I could provide some quotes if I actually spent time doing a google search.
I completely agree that DC and Gus will be tough opponents for Jones. I think a fight with Gus makes more sense right now (especially from a financial standpoint). If Jones wins, he shuts the critics up, Gus likely heads to the back of the line, and he can move on to guys like DC and new contenders.

  • MMA Monster

I think Cormier will beat him. Jones is very lucky to have that tittle. Broken Toe once ,coulda had his arms snapped , and luck desicion.

  • MMA Monster

Oh and a eye poking cheat win.

  • MuayThaiFood

Dana and Lorenzo really need to bring this kid back down to earth just like he did to the Diaz bros. He is under contract to defend his belt from whomever they feel is the legit or deserving contender at the time. This video is very sophomoric and smug. If Jon doesn’t get it then his bosses should clue him in to the fact that the fans are where his and their money comes from…not him. Diaz bros aren’t fighting and yet the show still goes on. Same would be true for Jones.

  • MMABadlad

Jones beat gus 3 -2, yes he got his face battered while doing it but he still won, in my eyes to win the belt you have to take it from the champ and gus just missed out,
However i also agree that jones should not be able to pick and choose his fights, If he fights gus it will be another close 5 round war,
DC is a beast and could easily KO or decision jones but poses a lesser threat in reach, jones wants DC first because he thinks his reach will be too much for DC to handle, and he probably wants to shut him up. cant argue with his logic of wanting DC first but still this isnt boxing, he should just shut his mouth and beat whoever the ufc put infront of him, and lets be honest he will probably win both fights

  • snapdad

    jon jones…..what a f**kin’ maroon

  • Darin

It may be your career, but it’s OUR money that pays your bills and buys your Bentleys.

  • http://www.CombatScienceMMA.com/ CombatScienceMMA

I don’t know what the big deal is. Gus beat Jimi M since that razor close fight to Jones. Let him fight Rashad when he returns or Rumble Johnson in the meantime. Anthony deserves a bigger fight anyway since beating Phil Davis. I’m sure Jones isn’t ducking anyone and is annoyed with all the talk from DC so he wants to fight him next. If he didn’t take that fight then fans would be saying he’s ducking DC.

    • TheCerealKiller

      Amen!

    • Baller31

He wouldn’t be ducking dc since there’s no contract to sign. Jones’ job is to fight whomever the UFC puts in front of him, and Gus just happens to also be the #1 contender and the most deserving. Jones is refusing to fight a deserving contender, the definition of ‘ducking a fight’

      • http://www.CombatScienceMMA.com/ CombatScienceMMA

It’s not like he’s ducking a guy he never fought. He had a war with him and came out the victor. I’m a Gus fan and I have no issue if he gets the rematch I just understand why Jones wants to fight DC next who is talking trash and he never fought. Do you see AJ getting a title shot in a fight or two? And would you like him vs Jones?

  • Lawdawg

Done with Jones. He went from one of my favorite fighters to rooting against him no matter who he fights. It is his career, but he chose to be a fighter not a banker. True fighters fight. They fight the best. I think he is a product of Greg Jackson. In my opinion he (Greg Jackson) over analyzes and over thinks everything. His fighters always seem to fight caution to protect their “career’s”. They are very picky about their opponents. This attitude infected Jones. You are a great fighter, get in the damn cage against whomever they give you and kick their ass! You have a chance to shut everyone up who thinks you lost the first fight. If you go out there and destroy Alexander, people will shut up. But to avoid him twice now….. come on man!

    • greaseygranny

Well said and I agree. I lost a lot of respect for Jones when he turned down the Sonnen fight to save that card when Hendo got hurt. Then he didn’t wan’t to do an immediate rematch with Gus. Then bitched about whom Gus was fighting next (not a top 10 guy). Now this crap. I think it has about 85%-90% to do with the Jackson camp.

      • Lawdawg

Absolutely right. Great points as well.

  • kiss44

This is the problem with combat sports. They allow the fighters to pick and choose who they will fight. Same in boxing where we see this nonsense. A fighter fights all comers, not who makes them look the best. F— Jones! He’s a coward.

    • dfe44

Jones or Pac or Ali or whomever; they are the champs, not you. So this is what I say about your logic: Gus Came! Gus fought! Gus lost! Next! HAHAHAAHA

      • kiss44

I guess I can’t argue with a guy that has figured out that I am not the champ. What a genius for figuring that out.

  • Liking this new jones

I don’t think jones has anything to gain from beating Gus again. If he beat DC in I don’t think he can for record. He will be the greatest of all time!! If he beats Gus again that’s no big deal he done beat him once. I would love to see DC fight Gus @ fox 12 winner gets jones a real #1 contender match. In all u pple think jones ducking look at who he fought, rashad, dragon, shogun, rampage, chuck, vitor,Gus, everyone who is anyone. Hasn’t ducked anyone n making Gus wait if he gets past DC will make this one of the most must see fights ever

    • Christopher Flores

Yeah… a victory over Gus wouldn’t do much for Jones unless he absolutely steam-rolled him. However, beating Cormier, no matter how close/controversial, would be icing on the cake for Jones career. Nobody has ever once made Cormier look like he was in a bad spot (Okay, maybe Cormier did not appreciate Frank Mir’s kicks… who also happens to train with Jones… but, I digress), and I don’t really know how that fight’d go… On the one hand, the style match-up and size differential suggest Jones would win… but Cormier is stronger, faster, and absolutely smarter (not that Jones isn’t an intelligent fighter, but he’s made some bone-head decisions before, whereas Cormier has been known to change tactics on the fly to accommodate whatever strategy his opponent tries to employ).

I’d much, MUCH rather see Jones face Cormier than Gus.

  • Liking this new jones

Love him hate him he gots the whole world talking about him jones is the best PR guy in ufc bad guys make more money. Look at sonnen!

  • put me in the sauna coach

When my boss tells me what account to work on I tell him I’ll work on whatever account I want….”its my career…not yours”. That’s what I say in the video message I leave him as I just wake up in the morning. And then I tell my mom I want to have 4 friends over for my birthday party…not just 3.

    • greaseygranny

      bwahahahahaha

    • crim

But no one wants your McDonald s job except you hahaha

      • put me in the sauna coach

hahahah I said career and you said McDonalds!!! Classic and original!

    • Tha_DuDe

Jones is perfectly within his contractractual agreement so stop comparing your candy ass office job with something you obviously know nothing about

      • put me in the sauna coach

hah I already made someone cry.

      • Baller31

Really? You’ve seen his contact, and it says he’s also his own matchmaker??? Lol sure man

        • Christopher Flores

I’m sure there’s no clause like that in Chael Sonnen’s contract, and yet…

      • greaseygranny

        Tha_DouChe, I mean, Tha_DuDe

        • TheCerealKiller

Someone needs to take your meme away. You’re too excited with your new toy.

          • greaseygranny

It’s a lot easier than bickering with idiots that don’t think the #1 guy deserves the next shot. You are a Jones fan bud. If you were an MMA fan, you would be all over this fight in hopes that it happens again. Fight of the decade. But you aren’t for another epic war. Don’t quite understand why you watch MMA in the first place.

      • thepoliticalronin

Cowards pick their fights – champions fight the next in line which would be Gustafsson.

    • Buttman

yep, and your boss, should ask you, “who the heck give you your career?, can you make your own career without me? DUH!!
Now, do what you are told to do and move on!

  • The_DuDe

Absolutely LOVE the way Jon Jones is doing what he feels is right for HIM. He is a businessman and is looking out for himself. Just like….Dana White. Dana White is only interested in himself and his carreer with UFC so he is having his own s–t shoved right back up his ass. Maybe he needs to refrain from setting dates without having all parties in agreement

    • Cool Guy

      EXACTLY.

  • Fear

Jones is such a puss I really respected this guy but ducking Gus is pretty shameful like come on dude jones first doesn’t want an immediate rematch fine but Gus just won his last n deserves the rematch and now jones is punking out again damn…just beat Gus and no one will talk about anymore jones says he beat him once ya that’s cool so why not again

    • Derek

      He already beat him

  • Andrew Spencer

Jones has fought the best and beat the best. The match with Dc would be a much better fight.

    • thepoliticalronin

Cormier said the fight should go to Gustafsson and how do you know if would be a better fight? Jones vs. Gustafsson is one of, if not, the best fight in MMA history.

  • zapo

So much for a legacy, In the future people will remember him for dashing fights rather than all the fights he won. WAY TO GO CHAMP.

  • Derek

I’m glad that he’s taking control. He’s dong whats best for him and isn’t that what we all do. He already beat Gus, not to mention as the fight went on Jones was gaining momentum in the later rounds. I’m sure the next fight wont even be close. Not to mention, it’s not like he wants to fight a bum. Last but not least who are you to call anyone a coward??????

  • db2626111

gus won that first fight…these mma judges are like the OJ jurors. jones is fake, he acts like he is sent from heaven but is wicked deep down inside…he is fake and hes gonna get his ass whipped sooner or later. cant wait for gus to beat him again.

    • Christopher Flores

Nobody gives a s–t what you think. Judges scored it for Jones. That’s what happens when you don’t finish a fight. Quit bitching. Jones won, not a split decision, a unanimous.

      • Buttman

@Christopher, nobody give a rat’s **s of what you said either. Jones is correct that it is his career, but he forgot, WE, the fans and UFC are the one who gave him this career, without UFC, Jones is nobody. Stop thinking selfishly. To us, the fans, Jones is our gladiator, we paid him to entertain us, give us good show. We are his master. We told him to fight, and he must obey, Remember your place Jones!

        • Dragon Kid

We are his master? Good joke. I laughed hard on that one.

        • Christopher Flores

The sport is mixed martial arts and not all of us look for a spectacle. Just like Overeem vs. Mir, which was boring to some fans while I found it absolutely fascinating that Overeem was able to completely nullify a fighter like Frank Mir. I’m not being selfish, I recognize, as you fail to, that when a fighter does not finish a fight, he leaves the decision to the judges. Jones knows his place and if you ask me, he’s trying his hardest to do what’s best for his career. Who cares if Gus is the #1 contender? We all saw that fight and Jones won (no matter what your personal feelings on the matter, it went to the judges who gave it to Jones). Cormier presents a vastly different challenge and one that would cement Jones legacy as one of the all time greats while fighting Gus would do nothing more than erase the doubt of the results from their previous fight. Remember your place? He’s a fighter with contract obligations and stipulations… He knows his place and I’m thankful that Jones has the balls to demand what’s best for his career no matter how unpopular the decision is.

  • thepoliticalronin

Jones is a coward. You’re the champion – you don’t choose the fight. The fight chooses you. Gustafsson is in line for the title shot – he should get it. If Jones really wanted to shut the critics up he would accept the fight against Gustafsson and “win” again. Jones just doesn’t want to get hauled out of the arena in a stretcher again.

  • whatever

The sweed won that fight. Scoring a unanimous decision against Gusto in that fight is why people dont watch this bs crooked ufc crap anymore. A child could see that at best Jones lost a split decision. UFC = CRAP. Jon Jones you are a disgrace to your own so called “warrior sprit”. Your bs video proves you are a liar and a coward. You spewed some obvious bs about your warrior spirit after getting the “w” handed to you when you know you didnt earn it. Absolute bs. Almost everyone of your head kicks were blocked! You battled on and didnt quit but you did not prevail. And you know it.

    • Cool Guy

You’re an idiot if you don’t think that fight was a good fight. It was in no way a one-sided ass kicking like Jones haters would love to believe. It was an extremely close fight that could have been called either way, and since Gustaffson didn’t do decisively enough, the decision went to Jones. Get over it

    • http://greenlantern.com jd

then don’t watch it dude….Jones won …Gus pushed him but he lost get over it…..Jones is the champ and he can decide who he wants to fight. Jones is smart….fight Cormier and in the meantime let Gus fight someone else and if they both havent lost then meet up for an Epic 2nd fight…..none of this repetitive Pacqio vs Marquez bulls–t

  • eudavis

Jon Jones is the best fighter in the UFC period. He definitely won the fight after careful review. All of you envious haters need to stay in your place and spectate. Dana White should stop trying to be the next Don King. Jon “Bones” Jones has helped carry the UFC in recent years and little Napoleon should be grateful and respect that and shut up.

  • greenthumb

DJ LANCE FROM YA GABA GABA IS A JOKE !

    • Cool Guy

Wouldn’t know, never seen the show.

      • cris

Jon Jones is D.J Lance ! google it

        • Cool Guy

          Nope, nvm

  • Cool Guy

The way I see it, Jones is doing what’s in his best interest, Gustaffson wants his rematch, and Dana just wants to make a fuckton of money off of this fight. Too bad for Dana and Gustaffson, Jones realizes that he IS the UFC right now. He probably feels like at this point, he deserves to be able to at least have a little say in who he fights next and when, rather than just be Dana’s little bitch like Dana would like.

However, I will admit, I am a bit biased. He could actually just be ducking gustaffson, but unless you ARE Jon Jones, you have no idea what his motivations are and jones haters should stop acting like they know the guy better than he knows himself.

  • tim

Jon Jones use to act as D.J Lance from yo gaba gaba . Google it

    • Cool Guy

      No he didn’t

  • Dana

Before Jones did MMA we acted in a kids cartoon as D.J Lance from Yo Gaba Gaba ! Check it out on you tube !

  • vani

if your so sure you can win and if your so tired of people talking s–t why not just give gustafssn his well deserved rematch to shut everyone up, you always say you want to be know as a G.O.A.T that means you have to fight all the best not just who you want, like i said if your so sure you can win just sign the contract to shut everyone up then
