Jon-Jones-UFC-126-Prefight_4718-478x270Less than 24 hours after the announcement was made that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones would face Glover Teixeira in the UFC 170 main event, the champion revealed that he would not be ready for the Feb. 22 event due a foot injury he suffered in his unanimous decision win over Alexander Gustafsson on Sept. 21.

Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, informed UFC Tonight that Jones would be taking the rest of 2013 off and will get back into training in January.

Jones’ UFC 165 opponent, Gustafsson, headlines a UFC Fight Night card against undefeated Jimi Manuwa on March 8 in London.

Jones expects to return to action around March or April.

Or his foot is still not healed and he’s a smart enough fighter to know that if you can’t train at 100% you won’t be ready to fight at 100%. And if Gus had taken johns heart. He would have quit during the fight. These two guys don’t have any quit in them. They are both true fighters. Jones is the kind of guy who does what’s best for him. And if you have followed the fight world long enough. You know that’s the only way it should be. It’s only you doing the fighting. So the rewards should benefit you and yours.
