Jon "Bones" Jones
When Jon Jones next defends his UFC light heavyweight title, against Dan Henderson, he’ll enter the fight not only as the favorite, but a huge overwhelmingly so.

According to Nick Kalikas of BetonFighting.com, Jones will enter his next title defense as a monster favorite facing former Pride and Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson.

The odds currently have Jon Jones listed as a -565 favorite with the comeback on the underdog Henderson at +385.

While the numbers may seem somewhat out of whack for a title fight, the fact is Jones has been a huge favorite in his last few fights and delivered every single time.

The reigning and defending 205-pound champion has been an unstoppable wrecking machine since entering the UFC, and the oddsmakers tend to believe his streak will continue against Henderson when they meet later this year.

While no date has been set for the title fight yet, current rumors have Jones vs. Henderson headed towards UFC 149 in Calgary on July 21.

Whenever the fight takes place, Henderson will have some long odds against him as he tries to dethrone one of the UFC’s fastest rising stars and one of the most devastating fighters in the game today in Jon Jones.

Whats next for jones after hendo?

    • brianhussey

Heavyweight. He will not go down to fight Silva and there is no way Silva would come up. Of course it all depends on who Gustaffson gets next and how he looks. If he looks great against a top 5 guy, I believe Jones vs Gustaffson is next and then a move up.

  • JUJU

If Silva some how gets past the immortal Chael Soonen, LOL!! How about Silva go up to 205 or Bones goes down…. or catch weight.

    • brianhussey

No way Jones will move down. No way Silva is moving up either anymore, especially to fight Jones. There are a few more threats at middleweight, especially with the addition of Lombard! And if the MWs go down, St. Pierre and Silva would be the next superbout at catchweight so no one loses belt, not Jones vs Silva .. in my opinion.

Wow, get a proofreader. Also, it is BetOnFighting… if you don’t capitalize the “On” then it looks wrong to capitalize the “Bet” and “Fighting”.

  • dgs

Again, just as with the Rashad fight, those are ridiculous odds. All Henderson needs to do is connect one time with that right hand and it’s lights out. Do I think Henderson will win, no, but odds like that are saying Henderson no chance in hell of winning, which is just not true.

Jones is a fantastic MMA, but to think he is unbeatable is just as shortsighted as it was when everyone thought Fedor was unbeatable. EVERYONE in this sport can be beaten on any given day, period.

I would never bet my hard earned money on an MMA fight, but if I was willing to do so, with those odds I would have to be crazy not to put some money on Henderson.

Do you even understand how odds are created?

    • RubeKegal

dgs doesn’t obviously understand MMA. Jones Jones has 1 loss and it came via DQ while he was giving a beating to Matt Hamill. He has never been rocked, taken down or looked in any sort of trouble ever in the UFC.

Dan Henderson lost to Jake Shields….what on earth does he have to offer Jon Bon Jovi aka Jonny Bones Jones?

      • wiiliamstanley

Jones was just rocked last saturday night.Fat leg kick to the dome Didnt you watch dog? Dude was stumbling as he was shuffling. He may have said he wasnt hurt in the press conference but if you stumble as your trying to circle, dog you just got rocked. He is beatable, its just a matter of time and not now. Shit you may be the one to do it man get some gloves get on that shit instead of bashing someone else about betting odds! Jon bon jovi shiiit…they dont even look alike.

        • RubeKegal

He didn’t get rocked by that, he didnt stumble, he backpedaled and gathered himself even winning the last exchanges of the round. Rocked is like Rashad got rocked vs Rampage, or like he staggered vs Thiago Silva.

  • LongDongSilver

Hendo has a punchers chance of winning this in the first two rounds, after that Jones will take it to him and probably submit him.

  • http://www.facebook.com/john.weatherly johnweatherly

JJ needs to move to HW.

    • RubeKegal

      True

    • bbtakayama

You are right. and Silva needs to move to LHW, GSP to MW, Aldo to WW, Cruz to WW, JDS to BW.

Just so the fans can be more entertained.

      • RubeKegal

damn straight son!!! And I want Penn to return at a new category of Super Heavyweight….that way he won’t be out-cardio’d

These odds look about right to me

  • maddawgmar

I always said that it will take a prolific wrestler or a one punch KO threat to beat him. Henderson is both of those. Will he win? Probably not. But at those odds I’m putting a 100 on Hendo.

    • Cptmats

You’ll be wasting a $100 ! Chances of Hendo landing are way beyond slim and his wrestling is a little weak these days…he got out wrestled by Jake Shields !

      • maddawgmar

That’s what they told me when I put a hundy on the Giants to beat the Pats in ’09 and this year. So how I see it betting on the dog is where the money is made.

And Henderson hasn’t had to use his wrestling lately KOing fools. If he trains his wrestling and goes for it, he can take Jones down. He will probably lose but he has a better chance than the odds give him.

        • bbtakayama

He has been knocking out fools, but Bones isn’t a fool. Hendo is gonna lose a lot of that striking power when he has to wing his punches half a foot higher than usual. His conditioning is not there, and he is old. He couldn’t KO Shogun and he hit him about 350 times. Jones made Shogun tap to strikes and I think he even shed a tear. I get what you are saying with the Giants, styles make fights. I will take a strong D-Line against the Pats any day. Styles are worth betting on. This is not gonna be worth it, I’d love to take that bet for you, I will give you 10 to 1

          • Cptmats

            I think 10-1 is even a little generous !

  • adice89

Hendo has a chance to hit him and knock him out. The sad part is that is all he has is that big right hand. His wrestling mixed with mma is horrible. He has guys who are not westlers that take him down. Jones is gonna use the same stradegy he used on Rampage to win the fight.

  • Towers66

Win or lose, Hendo is going to hit Jon harder than he’s ever been hit. I guarantee it. If Jon survives the first two he will probably ride right along the same line that Anderson Silva did. Jackson is going to have Jon score points and keep a good distance for the first half of the fight. Once Hendo is at or below half a tank is when Jon will start engaging and probably look to take the battle to the ground. Hendo by KO in the first two or Jon by Guillotine or R.N.C. in the 4th or 5th.

    • RubeKegal

I disagree. I love Hendo, he is in my top 3 favorite fighters, but Hendo doesn’t have anywhere near the speed Rashad does. Hendo will get decimated in this fight…. I am really hoping someone gets injured because this is not how I want to see Hendo go out.

  • jmat13

To all those saying Hendo only has a punchers chance I would be careful. He has faught the best of the best throughout his career. No one point out the Shields fight. He had problems cutting. Happened to Shields his first fight back to 170 and he barely won.

  • bbtakayama

I don’t think those odds are that big. Hendo should be a 10 to 1 underdog.

    • RubeKegal

      +1

  • MikeMc1983

The odds bookies give isnt their view on the chances of a fight being won. They’re trying to get people to bet close to even on both sides. That’s why the line will move when too much money is on one side.

The odds don’t represent jones chances of winning. They represent what it takes to get the public split.

To the guys offering 10 to 1, your idiots. If you ever actually felt that way then just bet on jones yourself at the better odds. Either your full of crap about the bet, or your too stupid to do the math and realize the article tells you where to get better odds.

    • RubeKegal

You’re so smart! I wish I was as smart as you!!

Ok now to reality….If Jones fought Hendo 10 times, he wins all 10…I don’t think Hendo has a punchers chance or any chance for that matter. Anywhere this fight goes, Bones is better, ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE!! He is the better striker, wrestler, and grappler and is younger faster and more athletic.

You think Mayweather being an 8-1 favorite over Cotto is a line for idiots too? Fact is you are the idiot, because that is what the line is and I think Cotto has a lot more of a chance of beating Mayweather than Hendo does beating Jones. I’ll be taking Jones thank you very much!

      • bbtakayama

I agree. Cotto is a friend of mine, I put some decent money on him. Mayweather is a great boxer, but hasn’t fought anyone on Cotto’s level. At 154 Cotto is gonna be very big for him, should be good. I got Cotto my KO in the 8th

  • RubeKegal

Furthermore, I don’t think people appreciate the talent Bones has fought.

Matyushenko, Hamill and Bader are all top tier wrestlers who Jones steamrolled through.

Bones beat Shogun at his own game being the first man to legitimately TKO Shogun.

He is only the second man to ever submit Rampage(Saku the other).

He’s the only person to submit Lyoto.

Hendo on the other hand has a lot of heart, but fact shows he has had a lot of trouble in recent fights. Rafael Calvacante dropped Hendo, so did Fedor, Shields put a clinic on Hendo.

Saying 10-1 is egregious shows you are not a true MMA fan. You are like a weekend warrior version of an MMA fan. You probably think Jens Pulver is in UFC. Good luck Mike Mc!!!

  • EricLahache

RubeKegal….jon bones jones nut hugger. period.

    • p3ezy

i know i can smell the gay through the screen. it sucks as well because jones is definitely one of my fav fighters and i really dont want to be associated with him. every time i read a rubekegal comment i vomit in my mouth a little bit.

    • RubeKegal

I apologize that facts irritate you.

      • RubeKegal

and btw, I was rooting for Rashad, I think Bones is fake as hell. p3ezy, everytime you type something, I think “Man his parents should have double bagged it.”
