A bantamweight bout has been added to the upcoming WEC 51 show in Broomfield, Colo. as Matt Hume student Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson gets a second crack in the WEC cage taking on Clint Godfrey, who also makes his second appearance for the promotion.
The WEC announced the fight on Tuesday.
Fighting out of Washington, Demetrious Johnson (5-1) didn’t win in his WEC debut but he certainly made an impression. A back and forth war with British stand-out Brad Pickett put Johnson on the map, although he did come up short losing a decision to the American Top Team fighter.
Returning to action in September, Johnson will work with coach Matt Hume and his team at AMC Pankration in Washington to try for a different result the second time around.
Also making his second trip to the WEC cage will be 11-2 fighter Clint Godfrey, who lost in his only appearance for the promotion in a decision against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Wagnney Fabiano.
Prior to that fight, Godfrey was on an eight fight winning streak, and he’ll look to rebound strong in his fight against Johnson at WEC 51.
The bout between Johnson and Godfrey will occupy part of the untelevised undercard for the show taking place in September in Broomfield, Colo.
