A welterweight bout has been added to the UFC Fight Night 24 fight card in Seattle as British prospect John Hathaway returns to action to face former “Ultimate Fighter” finalist Kris McCray on March 26.
The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Monday, with verbal agreements in place from both fighters for the March contest.
John Hathaway (14-1) returns to action after suffering the first loss of his professional career at UFC 120 in October in a fight against Mike Pyle. Prior to that, Hathaway had reeled off four wins in a row in the UFC and is still considered one of the top prospects in the UFC’s welterweight division.
Facing Hathaway at UFC Fight Night 24 will be former “Ultimate Fighter” finalist Kris McCray (5-2) making his second appearance at 170 pounds after competing at middleweight on the reality show.
McCray came up short in his finale fight against Court McGee and after starting strong in his bout against Carlos Eduardo Rocha at UFC 122 in Germany, he was submitted by the Brazilian.
The bout between Hathaway and McCray will occupy a slot on the UFC Fight Night 24 fight card, but no confirmation has been made as far as what fights will be televised.
