John Dodson UFC on Fox 6 Prepress 2653The Dec. 14 UFC on Fox card has taken yet another hit due to injury.

John Dodson has been forced to bow out of his UFC on Fox 9 bout with Scott Jorgensen due to an undisclosed injury, UFC officials announced on Tuesday evening.

A replacement for Dodson is currently being sought, officials said, and an announcement on whom Jorgensen will fight is expected soon.

Dodson was Jorgensen’s second opponent after The Ultimate Fighter winner stepped up on short notice for an injured Ian McCall.

The 14-7 Jorgensen will look to bounce back in the win column with a fight at UFC on Fox 9. His last outing was a losing effort to Urijah Faber at the TUF 17 Finale back in April.

UFC on Fox 9 takes place in Sacramento, Calif., at the Sleep Train Arena. It is headlined by a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson defending his title against Joseph Benavidez.

Dodson = Coward … not hurt, waiting around for a title shot – stop flippin around, banking on a weak division to keep your rank, hes trash and a nice bullshitter

    • Jay Mcgarrity

wow… Strong words there, did Dodson bang your girl or something? He did pretty damn well in the mighty mouse fight, he probably just bullshitted his way through it though…

      • Johnny

dodson couldnt reach my girls tits if he jumped and tried… no internet warrior here, unless you guys can name why he has a #2 rank… guess Pena and Holdsworth should be rank #2 coming out TUF … and yeah you can call a UFC fighter a coward, wtf ive seen plenty of them in that cage, I KNOW THE SITUATION, his team knows, hiding from a contender to get a title shot, im surprised you so called fans agree with what hes doing

        • Guest

          A TUF winner ranked #2?

You must know absolutely nothing about MMA, how is someone who had to go through TUF #2?

          • Johnny

thats what im tryna say… Dodson got ranked number 2 after 1 fight following TUF… hense the Pena and Holdsworth metaphor, nobody deserves number 2 coming out the show but Dodson got it, and a title shot, lets be serious, took Rashad and Forrest years to get a shot, Big Country still workin on it… all im sayin is hes riding the fact its a weak division, and hes not hurt, hes waitin for the Mighty Mouse v Benvidez fight and then UFC gonna be force to throw the winner Dodson, which is why hes fakin an injury… he doesnt wanna pull a Pettis and lose a fight to a mediocre fighter, (no disrespect to Guida or Pettis decision to fight Guida)

          • Lucas Freire

lol, are you aware that the FW division was created focusing on that TUF?
The TUF Dodson won CREATED the UFC division. Do you understand it? lol
Before that, there was Johnson, Benavidez and McCall basically.

          • JOhnny

dude i agree, thats what im sayin, you guys are proven my point… i had nothing against Dodson, i was excited for this matchup cause i knew it was a real pre-title test… Dodson got scared and injured out to wait for a title shot.. all im sayin, and your pretty much implying that this seasons TUF was made for the womens division and Pena will get a title shot after 1 fight? plus a #2 Ranking? both those Dodson got and blew his shot and instead of going back down the ladder he fights darrel montague (who mccall beat) and clearly not top 10 then backs out of a legit fight vs a mediocre guy, just to wait for this DJvBenivedez fight… yeah hes a coward, fight some competition and win for a change, instead of running from it and fighting chumps…

      • Johnny

was Jorgenson gettin a title shot or a number 1 contender rank beatin Dodson? didnt think so

    • Wolf Ticket

Calling any UFC fighter a coward is extremely dumb, you know…

    • George Sperry

It’s very brave to call an injured fighter a coward with no personal knowledge of the situation.

    • Chicago

Someone’s looking for attention. you sir need a hug.

    • Maddawgmar

      Says the internet warrior.

  • That sucks, Dodson would have been a great test for Jorgensen.

    • Maddawgmar

I think it was the other way around, Jorgensen would have been a tough test for Dodson. It would have shown us where he really is in the division. Jorgensen is a tough guy but he isn’t really a top ten in any division, IMO

      • I had Dodson winning this fight. That division isn’t deep but he’s one of the top guys. Would have been a good fight.

        • Maddawgmar

Agreed, he is a solid win way from a title shot. It’s gonna go that way until more talent arises.

    • Mark McDowall

Great fight. But if Jorgensen won…would he be #1 contedner?

      • No way. Jorgenson is 3-4 in his last 7 fights and every loss was to a top guy. The Flyweight division is not stacked yet. Those guys are getting title shots based on winning two fights in a row. Benavidez has won three fights but everyone else is pretty much a fight away from a title shot.

        • Mark McDowall

But Dodson is arguable the #1 contender in that division. If Jorgenson beat Dodson not whoever the replacement is…would he be #1

  • Chris

Dodson would have knocked Jorgensen out

    • Jay Mcgarrity

Inclined to agree, was still looking forward to it though.

    • Mark McDowall

I wouldn’t be surprised at that happening but Jorgensen has a hell of a chin.

  • Pat Garret

Dodson is fun to watch, and he is a finisher. He seems to possess that killer instinct.

  • Mike mckinney

Guys are supposed to have to prove injury/ see ufc doctors to make sure guys are actually injured. I’m not big on saying guys fake injuries or that fighters are “scared.” You have to be pretty arrogant to be a pro fighter. Not “brave,” just a bit full of yourself.

However, it is a weak division for the simple fact that any fully grown adult that can actually make that weight is a contender. If they’re going to make weight classes that low they should lower the fighting age. If you went to a jr. High half the kids probably wouldn’t make that weight.
