John Alessio Back in the UFC, Replaces Injured Matt Wiman at UFC 145

John Alessio
John Alessio will finally get his wish granted… he’s back in the UFC.

An injury to Matt Wiman forced him off the upcoming UFC 145 card in Atlanta, so in to replace him will be the veteran Xtreme Couture fighter who now faces Mark Bocek.

Bocek made the announcement via Twitter on Tuesday.

“Hey guys my new opponent at UFC 145 is John Alessio,” wrote Bocek. “Wiman is out with a knee injury.”

Alessio is no stranger to the UFC, having fought there three times previously, all in the welterweight division.

Now moving down to lightweight, Alessio has had great success lately reeling off three wins in a row, most recently picking up a victory over Ryan Healy at the Score Fighting Series in March.

“I don’t feel like there’s anybody in the weight class that I’m scared of or don’t want to fight. I invite every opportunity there is,” Alessio told MMAWeekly.com about his desire to come back to the UFC.

“If you’re a lightweight, you’re in my way and I’m coming for you.”

Now he’ll get the chance to prove that at UFC 145 in Atlanta when he faces Mark Bocek.
