Joey Beltran has been released from the UFC following his loss to Lavar Johnson at UFC on Fox 2 over the weekend.

The fighter confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Wednesday after an initial report from Fighter’s Only.

Beltran went 3-4 overall during his time with the UFC, but slid to 1-4 in his last 5 fights in the promotion.

The Alliance Training Center fighter dropped back-to-back fights to Stipe Miocic and Lavar Johnson before being released by the promotion on Wednesday.

Despite the release, Beltran remained upbeat and optimistic about his future, including a planned cut to 205lbs.

“To all my fans, friends, family and supporters I will be back better than ever at a new weight class,” wrote Beltran. “Don’t worry about me at all!”

Beltran has always been considered a smaller heavyweight so a cut to light heavyweight could bring the heavy hitter new life, and possibly a second chance in the UFC down the road.

Lavar will knock ur aiss into a different weight class. Though, this dude could very well have a new life at 205, that’s if his chin isn’t broken in. Remember to touch gloves and show good sportsmenship so u don’t look more of a looser then u really are.

    • Is this a troll post? LOL

I have to admit, I was totally happy to see him lose after he refused to touch gloves.

I was thinking the same thing. Should’ve touched gloves!

  • Hope he can string together a few wins and get back to the big show.
