Joey Beltran has been released from the UFC following his loss to Lavar Johnson at UFC on Fox 2 over the weekend.
The fighter confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Wednesday after an initial report from Fighter’s Only.
Beltran went 3-4 overall during his time with the UFC, but slid to 1-4 in his last 5 fights in the promotion.
The Alliance Training Center fighter dropped back-to-back fights to Stipe Miocic and Lavar Johnson before being released by the promotion on Wednesday.

Despite the release, Beltran remained upbeat and optimistic about his future, including a planned cut to 205lbs.
“To all my fans, friends, family and supporters I will be back better than ever at a new weight class,” wrote Beltran. “Don’t worry about me at all!”
Beltran has always been considered a smaller heavyweight so a cut to light heavyweight could bring the heavy hitter new life, and possibly a second chance in the UFC down the road.
