A lightweight match between Joe Lauzon and Al Iaquinta has been added to the UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz fight card. Newsday first reported the bout and UFC officials confirmed the addition on Wednesday.

Iaquinta (10-3-1) is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Rodrigo Damm and Ross Pearson. The Ultimate Fighter 15 finalist hopes to extend his winning streak to three consecutive fights when he faces Lauzon.

Lauzon (24-9) was expected to face Diego Sanchez at UFC 180 on Nov. 15, but was forced out of the fight due to an injury. He returns to face Iaquinta on Jan. 31. The all-time leader in post-fight bonus awards hopes to get his career back on track after only competing once in 2014.

UFC 183 takes place on Jan. 31 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva returns for the first time after suffering a broken leg at UFC 168 to take on Nick Diaz in the main event.

al needs to keep this standing. he’s being rewarded for such a big win over pearson, but still being tested with someone so known for his aggressive submission attempts. i’ll be picking him regardless, but this is a dangerous match for al.
