Jeremy Horn on Saturday, Dec. 1, took on Court McGee at
Ultimate Combat Experience “World’s Collide Finals” held at the Energy
Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.
McGee is one of the top fighters in Utah and a rumored
participant of the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV.
Horn needs no introduction to most fight fans. Just two
years ago he was taking on Chuck Liddell for the light heavyweight championship
in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Despite both of them being locals, McGee was greeted by
applause and Horn was greeted by boos upon entering the arena. It appeared to
have no effect on him whatsoever though, as he looked as focused and as
determined as ever.
Horn took it right to McGee from the opening bell and put
him on this back, landing elbows and punches from on top. McGee was able to
reverse Horn a few times and land some nice blows himself, but Horn controlled
the fight. He worked his magic and opened up a few good cuts on McGee.
Throughout the bout, they traded punches, but the majority
of the fight took place on the ground. McGee proved that he will be a huge
threat once he gets some more experience fighting off of his back. The fight
ended up in the hands of the judges with Horn scoring a unanimous decision.
It was one of the better fight cards that Utah has ever
witnessed and many UFC veterans (Brandon Melendez, Josh Burkman, and Joe
Doerksen) were on hand to experience it first-hand.
