Jens Pulver was the first ever UFC Lightweight Champion, a title which he never lost. Following a contract dispute, Pulver left the UFC for more than four years. He returned last year only to be knocked out in the first minute by little known Joe Lauzon.
Returning as a coach for season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter, Pulver’s team is currently up in the competition, five wins to one over rival coach BJ Penn’s team. Following this season, Pulver and Penn will rematch their January 2002 fight in which Pulver won a majority decision. The winner will likely get a shot at the lightweight belt currently held by Sean Sherk. On June 23rd, Pulver and Penn will headline the season 5 finale in Las Vegas, Nev.
