JASON MacDONALD AND LEONARD GARCIA JOIN MMAWEEKLY RADIO TONIGHT AT 6PM PT / 9PM ET

Canadian fighter Jason MacDonald traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland looking for redemption. He found it… in the form of Rory Singer.

Riding a six-fight winning streak, including his first two UFC fights, MacDonald was stopped by former UFC champ Rich Franklin at UFC 68 in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to that fight, MacDonald was on target to contend for the middleweight belt, so the fight with Singer was definitely an important one to him.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in there and redeeming my poor performance against Franklin and putting myself back in the mix at the top of the division,” said MacDonald prior to the fight. He did just that, finishing Singer with a flurry of punches for the TKO stoppage in the second round.

The victory over Singer puts MacDonald’s UFC score at 3-1, all three victories being against veterans of The Ultimate Fighter reality series.

Tonight, MacDonald joins Damon & Jeff to talk about the fight with Singer, the current state of the middleweight division and what he expects to see on July 7 when Nate Marquardt challenges Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight title.

Leonard Garcia fought this past weekend on the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 5 in Las Vegas. Not having competed on the show himself, Garcia dispatched one of this season’s veterans, Allen “Monstah Lobstah” Berube, with a rear naked choke in the first round. The win improves Garcia’s professional record to 10-2 and helps solidify him in the UFC’s lightweight division. Although he lost his UFC debut to Roger Huerta in Houston, it was an exciting fight that earned him this quick call back.

Listen in live at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on MMAWeeklyRadio.com to hear Damon & Jeff talk to MacDonald and Garcia and then breakdown a busy weekend of action headlined by Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni and BJ Penn vs. Jens Pulver.
