Never one to back down from a challenge, Jake Ellenberger has stepped up on two weeks notice to face Sean Pierson at UFC 129 in Toronto.
Ellenberger fills the slot vacated by Brian Foster after the HIT Squad fighter had a brain hemorrhage discovered during a pre-fight medical exam.
The switch was confirmed by the UFC on Wednesday.
Ellenberger comes into UFC 129 on a three fight winning streak, and a veteran record against some of the toughest fighters in the sport.
Ellenberger has been training with his home team in Nebraska as well as the Reign Training Center in California alongside UFC middleweight Mark Munoz.
The UFC hasn’t announced if Ellenberger vs. Pierson will remain on the preliminary broadcast set for Spike TV, but all signs would point towards the match-up keeping the same slot.
