A middleweight bout that was originally scheduled for later this month has been shifted to April 18.
A fight between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Yoel Romero has been rebooked for New Jersey, UFC officials announced on Wednesday. The bout will fill in as the co-main event at UFC on FOX 15 at the city’s Prudential Center.
The two 185-pound contenders were originally set to square off at UFC 184 in Los Angeles, but illness forced Souza to back out and the match-up was put on hold.
Souza (21-3, 1 NC) last fought in September 2014, finishing Gegard Mousasi in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card. The win was Jacare’s seventh in a row, and fourth in the UFC since moving over from Strikeforce.
Romero (9-1) is undefeated in the Octagon. Of his five wins in the organization, four have come by way of knockout or technical knockout.
