Jacare-Souza-019-SF-460x270Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is currently recovering from elbow surgery and anticipates a return to fighting in the UFC this August, according to a report on Wednesday night.

Upon his return, Souza desires a fight with the winner of a scheduled bout between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy, according to UFC Tonight.

The fighter’s manager, Gilberto Feria, told the FOX Sports 1 program that Souza’s left elbow gave the fighter problems in the last two months of training camp for his UFC Fight Night 36 bout with Francis Carmont, which he won.

Souza had successful surgery on his elbow last week, according to the report.

Feria also told the program that they believe Jacare choosing to fight the Bisping vs. Kennedy winner would be a bigger fight than other potential match-ups. Beyond Bisping and Kennedy, Faria said that his fighter would also take a match-up with the winner of Luke Rockhold and Tim Boetsch.

Bisping and Kennedy are currently scheduled to fight in on the TUF Nations Finale card in Quebec City on April 16. Rockhold and Boetsch will meet in Baltimore on the April 26 pay-per-view for UFC 172.

I like that fight…with who ever wins the Bisping/Kennedy this should be for a #1 contender fight.

well i really wasnt impressed with souza in the last fight against carmount, well in his tand up anyway, if either bispling or kennedy can keep the fight standing they may have a chance

      • Mark McDowall

I agree. But Carmount is no slouch…he is someone to keep an eye on in the future. Plus if you look at some other MMA news sites they showed what they pulled out of Souza’s elbow…besides being F’ing gross…it couldn’t have been very easy to fight with that kind of junk floating around in there!

oh im not knocking carmount. i was really impressed with souzas striking before that fight, not im thinking his power is good but he doesnt have many combinations. think either will make for a good match up with souza tho

my prediction is: jacare the most dangerous man at 185!!!! michida vs jacare for the title by the end of yr

    • Mark McDowall

I agree…I think he could beat Michida…Weidman won’t be an easy fight but I think he could do that too.

Jacare is good, but no match for Weidman or machida

  • Souza will dominate either Kennedy/Bisping.

    This fight is a joke.

Jacare and kennedys first fight should’ve been a draw.jacare admitted, kennedy is abnormally strong. Bisping will not engage with kennedy once fight begins.

i think they’ll do luke rockhold vs kennedy/bisping. idk where that leaves jacare, but maybe they can steal mamed khalidov when they go to poland.

  • TheCerealKiller

Kennedy is a ranked fighter, automatic loss for Bisping.
