Jacare Sits Atop Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey Fighter Salaries

Jacare Souza StrikeforceThe Ohio Athletic Commission on Monday released the Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey fighter salaries to MMAWeekly.com.

The main event at Saturday’s event at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, Ronda Rousey staking her claim to the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight championship, by arm barring former champion Miesha Tate.

The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that promoters are required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners’ bonuses.

Although mixed martial arts fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters’ salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States. Any undisclosed bonuses that a promoter also pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically, pay-per-view bonuses, fight of the night bonuses, etc.), are not included in the figures below.

Ronda Rousey: $32,000 (includes $17,000 win bonus)

Josh Thomson: $80,000 (flat rate; no win bonus)

Lumumba Sayers: $10,000 (includes $5,000 win bonus)

    Surprising, but I’m sure Jacare is still locked into his contract from being the champ, and the opposite is true for Tate. Too bad she lost it before she renegotiated.

    Yeah, Ronda, yeah baby, no more graveyard shift at 24-hour fitness! It’s the bigtime now! Time to renegotiate that contract.

    I don’t see anyone beating her except maybe Cyborg.

    Cyborg would probably destroy Ronda as Cyborg is a guy. Rousey doesn’t seem to have any stand up skills and could get smashed by a good puncher. Meisha tate was a very average fighter. after Kaufman gets smashed woman’s MMA won’t have much of a future.
