Iuri Alcantara vs. Wilson Reis Added to UFC Fight Night 36 Card in Brazil

Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

UFC logoBantamweights Iuri Alcantara and Wilson Reis have agreed to square off at UFC Fight Night 36 on Feb. 15 in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.

UFC officials announced the new bout on Thursday.

Reis (17-4) is a Bellator veteran that has been on a hot streak since exiting that promotion in 2011. He has reeled off five consecutive victories, including his Octagon debut. Reis won a unanimous decision victory over Ivan Menjivar at UFC 165 at September’s pay-per-view event in Toronto.

He’ll try to keep the momentum building against Alcantara, who is looking to get back on track.

Alcantara (28-5) has been on a rocky road, amassing a record of three wins, two losses and one no contest during his UFC tenure. He is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 26 in August in Boston.

A five-round middleweight clash between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi headlines the UFC Fight Night 36 event at Arena Jaraga.

As people complain about Bellator signing failed UFC fighters, its interesting to see the UFC signing failed Bellator fighters.

How’ do u figure failed??? Lost to the last two champs in finals and then cut.. Not failed but instead Bellator’s poor decision making on their fighters. Reis deserved to in the UFC!!! Ivan Menjavar fight proved it!
