08-benny-alloway-vs-manny-rodriguez-ufc-on-fx-6-27 It was a less then ideal situation for Ben Alloway as he boarded the plane to Sweden in April for his fight with Ryan LaFlare having suffered an injury to his ankle in his final sparring session with Dylan Andrews, but the 32-year-old is injury free and looking forward to taking on Zak Cummings at UFC Fight Night 27 on Wednesday night live on Fox Sports 1.

“I did think about not fighting, but I didn’t wanna be that guy that pulled out so close to the fight,” Alloway revealed to Neil Rooke. “Twelve days before the fight, I was just doing one of my final sparring sessions and (Andrews) went to take me down. I sprawled and my knee buckled and my ankle kinda got caught. It was almost like the same kind of pressure you’d get from a toe hold.”

Despite the injury, Alloway doesn’t blame it for his loss to LaFlare in a performance he described as “boring,” adding that he feels lucky not to have received the sack in the “do or die” environment of professional fighting.

With his UFC record reading 1-1, The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes alum will be looking to restart his UFC career on Wednesday night and promises that we will see a more well-rounded fighter in the Octagon.

“I really believe I’m going to win this fight,” Alloway told News Ltd. “I think it’s a great match-up for me. I think I’ve got a chance to finish him. I had a really good time over in Colorado, training over there at altitude.

“I think you’re going to see me be a lot more well-rounded than what I’ve shown in my past two fights,” he continued. “I’m going to be a lot more prepared and I think people will be surprised with the skills I’ve got. Being in the UFC is my job and my career and I want to provide for my family.”
