Injury Bug Bites UFC 149 Again!

George Roop at WEC 51

We’re finally within a month to go to UFC 149 in Calgary, but the fight card continues to change.

The most significant bump came recently when UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo had to back off the card due to an injury. That caused UFC officials to move the interim bantamweight championship bout between Urijah Faber and Renan Barão from UFC 148 on July 7 to the UFC 149 main event slot on July 21.

The latest victim of the injury bug is George Roop, who fell victim during training camp. His withdrawal opened the door for Daniel Pineda to fight Antonio Carvalho. Both fighters have verbally agreed to the featherweight match-up, according to UFC officials.

Pineda (17-8) is coming off of a loss to Mike Brown at UFC 146 at the end of May. He was on a seven-fight winning streak prior to the loss, and will be looking to Carvalho as an opportunity to get back on track.

Who cares why is Roop even on the roster still?

and when is your next fight and where?! oh thats right you don’t fight for a living, just sit there in your moms basement and talk crap about people who actually step in the cage.

right, wins over grispi and kz mean nothing -_-

You don’t need to be a fighter to have an opinion on who you want to spend your money on, haha and what does his mothers basement have to do with anything. There’s nothing wrong with having favorite fighters, and least favorite fighters at that.

July 7th can;t come soon enough. Every day I dread reading that either Chael or Anderson was injured. :/

I really really hope they both undertrain this week. An injury would make me reconsider everything good in this world.

I like Roop. He’s had some memorable fights.
