After a short notice debut in a weight class above where he normally fights, Henry Martinez will take his second crack at Octagon success when he faces Bernardo Magalhaes at UFC on FX 3 on June 8.

Sources close to the fight confirmed the new bout to MMAWeekly.com on Thursday with verbal agreements in place for the June contest. Fight Bulletin initially reported the bout.

A member of Team Jackson’s in New Mexico, Henry Martinez stepped up on extremely short notice to take his first fight in the Octagon against Matt Riddle at UFC 143 in February, and came up just short despite fighting at welterweight when he is a natural 155lb fighter.

Still, Martinez gave a very good account of himself at the fight and made UFC President Dana White an instant fan.

Now back down at lightweight, Martinez will face another UFC second timer looking for their first win.

Bernardo Magalhaes debuted at UFC on Fuel TV 1 where he lost a decision to Power MMA & Fitness fighter Tim ‘Dirty Bird’ Means.

The tough Australian didn’t go down without a fight, and now he’ll look to dish out some punishment for this go round when he faces Martinez in June.
