The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tuesday confirmed that former International Fight League fighter Andre Gusmao will finally make his Octagon debut. He will face Tomasz Drwal at UFC 87 on Aug. 9 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Currently undefeated in his professional career, Gusmao was prematurely speculated to face David Heath at UFC 81 in February, but it was then discovered that he was still under obligation to the IFL. He has now fulfilled his obligations with the IFL and moves on to the UFC.
A native of Poland, Drwal made his own Octagon debut at UFC 75, losing by TKO to Thiago Silva late in the second round. Prior to that bout, he had been on a 13-fight winning streak. Drwal currently has a professional record of 14-2.
