Jim Miller UFCLess than an hour after announcing that Shane Carwin blew out his knee, UFC officials were once again reporting another injury. Gray Maynard is injured and out of his UFC 155 bout with Joe Lauzon.

The good news, however, is that unlike Carwin’s original opponent, Roy Nelson, Lauzon already has a new foe waiting in the wings. Jim Miller has already agreed to step up and fill Maynard’s shoes, according to UFC officials.

The UFC released no details of Maynard’s injury.

Lauzon (22-7), after having his road to towards title contention diverted by Anthony Pettis, bounced back in his most recent trek to the Octagon. He submitted Jamie Varner at UFC on Fox 4 in August.

Miller (21-4) has lost two of his last three bouts, to current champion Benson Henderson and most recently to Henderson’s next challenger, Nate Diaz, so he’s looking to try and get back on track in the fight with Lauzon.

The winner is taking a big step towards getting back in the mix with a victory.

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos headlines UFC 155, putting his belt on the line against Cain Velasquez on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas.

Epic! Not a big Maynard fan. Miller vs Lauzon will be great fight

Yea, should be a good fight. I’m not a big fan of Maynard but after that last fight with the Carpenter I was hoping he would get an opponent that would bring it and I thought Joe was a perfect match up. I like the Miller fight too though

  • Miller vs Lauzon will be an awesome fight but this still does suck. I really wanted to see how much Maynard has improved with his time over at AKA. The Guida fight was okay but its been a while since then. And I was curious to see what happens if he won this fight and where he stands in the division. Best of luck to him recovering.
