Light Heavyweight King of Pancrase Yuki Kondo returns to Pride for the first time since suffering a knockout loss to Phil Baroni at Bushido 10. The experienced veteran will face Team Grabaka fighter Akihiro Gono. Known for his entertaining walk-in entrances, Gono will look to rebound from a loss to Denis Kang at the semi-finals of the Pride Welterweight Grand Prix.

Also officially announced for Shockwave is a highly anticipated rematch between former Pride heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett. The two fighters met at the semi-finals of the Open Weight Grand Prix and produced one of the best fights of 2006. Barnett is currently the #3 Heavyweight in the MMAWeekly Rankings, behind only Fedor Emelianenko and Cro Cop, while Nogueira is the #4 Heavyweight.
