The first ever Bellator Fighting Championships bantamweight champion will be crowned later this year, and the first tournament match-up has been confirmed as Ulysses Gomez makes his debut for the promotion against Travis Reddinger.

The bout was confirmed by sources close to the fight to MMAWeekly.com on Thursday.

The fight between Gomez and Reddinger is expected to go down on September 2 at an as of yet unannounced Bellator show.

One of the top prospects in the sport, Ulysses Gomez (6-1) moves into the Bellator tournament after spending the majority of his career with the Tachi Palace Fights. Currently on a four fight win streak, Gomez trains out of Las Vegas where he works with Marc Laimon and his Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu team.

At 14-2, Travis Reddinger is one of the most experienced fighters in the Bellator tournament, and he also rides a four fight win streak into the bantamweight showdown in September. The Minnesota native has fought in several regional promotions before moving to Bellator.

More fights for the upcoming Bellator bantamweight tournament should be announced in the coming weeks.
