Georges St-PierreFormer UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will star in the planned remake of the 1989 film “Kickboxer.” Also joining the cast is WWE professional wrestler and one-time amateur mixed martial artist Dave Bautista.

The original cult classic featured action star Jean-Claude Van Damme in the leading role. St-Pierre and Bautista will play supporting roles in the remake. Van Damme’s character, leading role Kurt Sloan, will be played by stuntman and martial artist Alain Moussi.

The film is being financed by international film and finance company The Exchange. It will be directed by Stephen Fung and produced by Ted Fields. Fields was the executive producer of box office hits Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Jumanji, The Last Samurai, and Spring Breakers, among others.

The plot of the film revolves around revenge. According to The Exhange, “Eric and Kurt Sloan are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion. But when Kurt witnesses the merciless murder of his brother at the hands of Muay Thai champion Tong Po, he vows revenge. He trains with his brother’s mentor, Xian Chow, for a Muay Thai fight to the death with Tong Po. Chow first thinks Kurt impossible to train, but through a series of spiritual exercises and tests, Chow discovers that Kurt has a deeper strength that will carry him through his final showdown with Tong Po.”

The Exchange will begin shopping the film to foreign buyers later this week. St-Pierre recently starred as Batroc the Leaper in the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  St-Pierre stepped away from fighting following his UFC 167 title defense against Johny Hendricks.

    Johny Hendricks = THE NEW DOMINANT WW CHAMPION 2014-2018

    GSP = GAY4LIFE

      Just because GSP shares the same name, doesn’t mean he has the same sexual preference as you do Mr. “GAY4LIFE”. And even if he were gay, you’re somehow dumb enough to think it matters?

      But seriously, congrats on having an internet provider in your backyard trailer park. You’re moving up in the world oh George of the Redneck tribe. Now, you need to learn how not to abuse the privilege. Luck with that. If only you could go out and score an IQ average above 70 you could shake of the mentally deficient stigma you no doubt toil under – might give you a fighting chance.

      I am a Johny Hendricks fan but he hasn’t even defended the title yet. GSP and Matt Hughes owned that title for the longest time so he has a lot of work to do. I just don’t understand if you have a problem with GSP why can’t you just state an intelligent opinion of why he’s “GAY4LIFE”. I never understand you fans who make those comments but don’t want to have an intelligent conversation on a subject we all love.

    This is gonna be a trainwreck of a movie. Way to bastardize a classic van-damme film.

    So is it Eric or David Sloane that gets killed now? Hopefully it’s David so no more disastrous sequels. I hope The sequels will have a different story because the original sequels were terrible.
