A former Strikeforce and Dream champion, Mousasi has struggled to gain a foothold in a race for the UFC middleweight championship. He is 3-2 in the Octagon, alternating between wins and losses, but enters this fight coming off of a quick TKO stoppage of former Pride champ Dan Henderson.
His opponent, Philippou, had put together a five-fight winning streak in the UFC, but that came to a screeching halt when he lost back-to-back bouts to Francis Carmont and Luke Rockhold. He is coming off of a win over Lorenz Larkin, though, and will be looking to get some momentum back with a win over Mousasi.

After having his momentum slowed by Tarec Saffiedine early last year, Lim bounced back with a win over Takenori Sato in September. The winner takes the next step up the welterweight ladder.
