Frank Mir Adds Big Nog’s Arm to Broken Limbs Collection

There have only been a few times when someone’s bones actually broke in the UFC, and Frank Mir is now responsible for two of them.

A few years back, Mir snapped Tim Sylvia’s arm to win the UFC heavyweight title and on Saturday night he added Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s arm to his hit list.

Check out what Frank Mir had to say after his phenomenal UFC 140 win:

Amazed to hear him discuss Cain… Frank would get destroyed!!!

Cain looked Like crap against JDS, so I wouldn’t be so sure Mir would get destroyed.

this may go down as the biggest mistake in mma history. nog had him! the fight is over if he re-positions and keeps hitting him. I’m doubly sick 1 cuz of the injury, and 2 he looked so good during the fight and now who knows.

Totally agree with you. I feel bad for Nog. He had this fight, and really looked like the better fighter. I guess you have to take your hat off to Mir for submitting Nog, which has never been done.

I know most people will disagree with me, but I think Mir should have held the position a bit more before he snapped the arm. Mir endured the roll over defense of the Kimura and still had it after the defense. Mir had the leg around the head, and Nog wasn’t getting out of that. Nog actually did tap if you watch the fight. He was tapping Mir’s back, but right as Mir was breaking the arm. Just a bit too late.

I don’t know what it is about Mir that I don’t like, but I just don’t like him that much. It’s something about the way he talks about himself. It’s like he’s just so joyful to talk about himself.

You mean like Jon Jones (adores talking about himself)? Jon Jones: “yes, I here, I there, I’m here, I’m there, I’m made of gold, I’m my biggest challenge, blah blah blah, bs, bs, bs” .

There was a comment jones made in a preflight interview that I think people missed. I found it hilarious. He was asked about the difference in fight machida vs. a guy like Evans. He responded by saying that there was a difference. Machida is someone he likes, and has a lot of respect for. That machida is in his top 50% of people in the sport. The reason that he gave for respecting, and liking machida so much is that “machida is a lot like himself.”
When I heard him praise machida, and them state it was because he thought machida was like him I couldn’t stop laughing.
I think it was in the preflight press conference video on this site, but I’m not sure.

I am pretty sure he broke Roberto “Spider” Traven arm on a arm bar too. I am a Mir fan but in the clinch he has to stop letting them punch him freely in the face! In order to beat the top 3 he needs to get better in greek roman wrestling that’s tends to loose his fights

Mir is so lucky herb dean didnt stop the fight when he was face down ass up big nog had him i guess all the legends seem to be losing there patience it was really impressive to see frank pull a classic big nog style win over the legend himself to each there own the only thing i would say is mir is a SOB for breaking his arm on purpose as big nog was clearly tapping i would love to see Werdum and Mir fight next to see who has the best HW bjj in mma please make that happen if not id like to see mir vs fedor now that he seems more patient.

Do you have something against periods and commas?

  • stiff jab

My thoughts exactly! Wow, tough read.

It sucks but I dont think you can hold the broken arm against Mir. He was just recovering from punches and after having the position reversed twice by Nogeira on the ground I think he was just going for the win, and he was tapping just as the arm snapped, I just hope Nog’s ok
