Caol Uno, who twice fought for a UFC championship, will be back in action on July 26 when he takes on Shigeki Osawa at the Korakuen Hall. Their featherweight fight will be one of the highlights on a Shooto card headlined by a 115-pound title bout.
Uno (32-17-5) recently turned 40 and was hoping to sign one more UFC contract before he retired, but a unanimous decision defeat to Yoshifumi Nakamura earlier this year effectively put paid to that ambition.
Uno had strung together six consecutive wins prior to that loss. He will be looking to get back on track with another victory next month. Osawa (13-6-3-1) is a hard-hitting featherweight that is 11 years his junior, who will be looking to make a statement against a Japanese MMA legend.

In the main event, undefeated Shooto 115-pound champion Yoshitaka Naito (8-0) will be making the first defense of his belt against up-and-coming contender Ryutu Sawada (5-1-1). There’s an 11-year age gap between the experienced titleholder and the teenage challenger.
The other title fight on the card sees Koshi Matsumoto (14-6-1) put his Pacific Rim 170-pound title on the line against Yuki Kawana (9-0-4). The challenger has never been beaten, but drew four out of eight fights while competing for Zst, an organization that doesn’t award decisions if a fight goes the distance.
