Former UFC lightweight contender Hermes Franca has been sentenced to 42 months in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting an underage student at one of his academies in Oregon.

The news was first reported by The Oregonian on Friday.

Franca was brought up on charges in May with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.

In his plea agreement with the state, Franca eventually copped to one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of unlawful penetration. He will spend the next three and a half years in prison.

Following his stint in prison, Franca will also have four and a half years of post-prison supervision, and must register wherever he lives as a sex offender.

Franca last appeared in the UFC in 2009 where he was TKO’d by Tyson Griffin. Since that time, the former title contender has bounced around several small promotions in different locations around the world.

Never liked this guy, but had no clue he was this sort of desicable low-life.
A couple of years in prison hardly seems to be adequate punishment.
    Firing squad maybe?

” and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.”

Why don’t they just call it what it is? Rape.

This POS needs more than 42 months

3.5 is usually the avergae for sex with a minor. The law has the word rape in it but it is hardly rape as it is consensual between two people. Calling this rape takes away from the people who have their lives destroyed by someone physically torturing them, this isn’t the case. She asked him to have sex with her, he knew well enough that it was illegal and now he has to pay the piper.

If the person cannot legally consent (and the age varies from state to state), it is rape — statutory.

I fully understand the degree of the crime, but you ppl make stupid comments on regards to his sentenced time, where you in court and saw hear the evidences presented? There are women that will go to bed with you willfully and if they feel like accusing you of assault the law is on their side. Think like real men not like a “perfect human being”

I’m sure the laws are worded different in each state. But this doesn’t sound like consensual under age sex. That is usually labeled statutory rape. This is worded as first degree child abuse and second degree unlawful penetration, which could be a finger I guess. Which only makes it worse. Why finger a 17 yr old or younger? Just by the wording of it, it sounds as if he tried to coerce some girl to have sex with him, and was only partially succesful against her will. Franco is hardly the type to blackmail for millions. That leads the imagination to a great many terrible things. Plus he started with 7 charges and plea bargained down. That suggests a reality far worse than what he is being convicted of.
Even if it was consensual, this guy should have known better. At best she was 17. He could have had just as much fun with an 18 yr old and not face child abuse, criminal sex charges.
This is most likely not the first time. Just the first time getting caught. I don’t see how ‘stupid’ could be used as a description of the comments, which are relatively mild to what you would expect in a crime like this.
At best they could be described as passionately biased without having all the facts.
