There has been only one… Jens “Little Evil” Pulver. Never since has there been a UFC Lightweight Champion. That is, until this Saturday night.
At UFC 64, Kenny Florian and Sean Sherk step into the Octagon to decide – for the first time since Pulver walked away from the title in 2002 – who will be crowned the UFC Lightweight Champion of the world. But tonight on MMAWeekly Radio’s SoundOff, we will have each of the contenders on to talk about their thoughts on the upcoming bout.
Florian made his name through fighting out of his natural weight class on the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter. Since losing in the finale to welterweight contender Diego Sanchez, he has put together a three-fight winning streak to earn his shot at the recently re-instated lightweight championship.
Across the Octagon, Sherk has earned his reputation as a hard-nosed veteran primarily in the welterweight class, but is getting a shot at the belt in his first UFC fight at lightweight. With a 29-2-1 record, his only losses to welterweight champion Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre, it is difficult to argue that he hasn’t earned his shot as well.
Join Damon Martin and Jeff Cain as they host both contenders, one right after the other, tonight LIVE at 6pm PST/9pm EST on MMAWeekly Radio’s SoundOff.
