UFC on Fox 7 is filling up fast and the latest addition is a welterweight contest with “Fight of the Night” written all over it.

Hard-hitting Matt Brown, who went 4-0 during 2012, returns to action at UFC on Fox 7 to face British slugger Dan Hardy.

Sources close to the contest confirmed the fight to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday with verbal agreements in place for the bout.

Matt Brown had one of the most impressive years of any fighter in the UFC, posting a perfect 4-0 record capped off with a knockout over Mike Swick at UFC on Fox 5 in December.

The former Ultimate Fighter cast member, who now trains at home in Ohio, just recently took over as the lead instructor at Buckeye MMA in Columbus as well.

Facing Brown in April will be former welterweight title contender Dan Hardy, who enters the fight on a two-fight win streak of his own.

Dan Hardy most recently defeated former Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah at the last UFC event in his home country of England, and now he heads to San Jose for a featured bout at UFC on Fox 7

Brown vs. Hardy, which was first reported by ESPN.com, is expected to be a main card bout on the UFC on Fox 7 show alongside the main event title fight pitting Benson Henderson against Gilbert Melendez, while Daniel Cormier meets Frank Mir in the co-main event.

Matt Brown shocked me with how easily he handled Mike Swick. Dan Hardy, while looking improved, I just don’t see him winning this fight. Brown is ultra tough and will dominate on the ground. However if this becomes a scrap, it could be a really fun fight to watch.

Same here. I was very impressed on his win against Swick. I hate to say it but I counted him out in that fight. I thought Swick had every advantage. This fight with Hardy will be awesome. I wouldn’t mind either of those guys fighting Thiago Alves in his return.

    Good match and it’s free.

WTF ever happened to Amir? For a TUF winner he turned out to be kind of a bust

He moved to WW. He was awesome at MW. I think he sucks at cutting weight. He always looks emaciated with a decent amount of fat leftover like he’s cutting too much water.

I think Hardy’s best chance to win is to take Brown out early. The longer the fight goes, the more Brown’s chances of winning increase. Brown is more versatile and will have a large size and reach advantage.

Great fight. This could be a slug fest! Cheering for my boy Dan Hardy to keep that win streak going!

Look at the competition hardy had compared to brown… Hardy wins this 2rd KO/tko OI OI

  • BobLemons

I really hope Hardy can keep his streak going, but this will be a tough one for sure.
