It will be fun to watch people flip about this one.

  • Seth

Well, on one side it is kinda bitchslap to rest of the guys, which spent their lives trying to get where they are…on the other, you have guys like Iaquinta trying to be funny…

Reality is simple. UFC needs headliners. And no one said they have to be MMA fighters. I don’t see a reason why wouldn’t he headline small Fight Pass card in Chicago. He will prolly land on Main Card anyway, so why won’t they use him as headliner in his hometown for Fight Pass? Makes sense to me…

  • Illanoid

Haha, hard to deny Askren’s comment. Come back in a year after you have 3 or 4 wins in a small show … then maybe we’ll talk.

  • TheCerealKiller

Ben Askren still doesn’t get it.

    • Jason Priest

Haha! Yep! CM Punk will put butts in seats and will drive PPV numbers through the roof. People like him and Russell Doane (Who the hell is Russell Doane?) don’t seem to understand that the UFC is a business, first and foremost.

      • taylor2008

I had no idea who CM Punk was. I wouldnt waste a dime on this guy. Just because he joined doesnt mean people will buy PPV. I agree with many of these fighters. He needs to prove himself.

        • Hey moron: just because you don’t know who he is, does not mean millions of others don’t; moreover, that leads to hundreds of thousands of extra PPV buys. Will Ben Askren lead to hundreds of thousands of extra PPV buys? No.

          Shut up.

          • taylor2008

Hey moron just because YOU know him doesnt mean I or amny others do. I just said that I didnt know him and I dont think real MMA fans are going to waste money on a PPV event just because of him.

And no I dont think Askren will lead to hundreds of thousands of PPZ buys. I NEVER said that!

So go get tough with someone else.

          • What is PPZ?

Were you born retarded, or became that way after smoking spice?

If you are so right, why is ZUFFA, LLC. in agreement with my school of thought, and your perspective is laughed at?

How does it feel to be a fanatic of an organisation that laughs at you?

          • taylor2008

You are a typical bigmouth PUNK! Trust me little punk, I am a whole lot smarter than you. I accidentally hit the Z because I type fast. But insecure punks like you always point out a typo
And thats what makes you a moron….I dont care about an organization. I like certain fighters. UFC is only worried about making money and NOT worried about the fighters or putting on a good show. Zuffa is losing a lot of people because when a fighter gets hurt for a championship fight they throw in someone that shouldnt be there. Imagine paying for a plane flight, hotel and tickets to a certain championship fight just to see a fight you dont care to see. Many PPV people arent buying it ahead of time either because they dont know who will fight the day of the fight. So he is trying to bring in the WWE crowd. I hope this CM guy is decent, but he is not going to sell a hwole ton more PPVs.

          • I reside in Las Vegas; so, I don’t have to imagine a goddamn thing. I have been to dozens upon dozens of UFCs; it’s like going to the supermarket. Do I feel like going to the UFC today? I guess I should put on trousers.

            Tool. Don’t watch. Go away.

          • taylor2008

I hate to tell you but there are no UFCs today. So go back in mommys basement and play your video games you little moron.

          • You are certainly twelve years old. Certainly.

Go back to your mom’s womb. You are not fit for this world.

          • Blake

You just made a comment about that guy and his use of PPZ and you cant spell organization?

          • Open up the primary source for the English language — Oxford Dictionary — and go to the term organisation and see how it is spelled, moron.

  • shakejunt

for whatever it’s worth, signing cm punk >>>>> signing james toney

    • The Milkman

No. Just no. As bad as toney was he at least was one dimensional. Cm doesn’t have any background in anything

      • David

Actually, you’re wrong. He’s got a background in Kempo, Kickboxing, and BJJ. I never pegged the guy as a fighter though. It will be interesting.

        • The Milkman

I know he’s trained in bbj and Kempo but I’m almost certain he doesn’t have a competitive background in it. Meaning actually competed before. Anyone can train a little.

      • Jason Priest

He’s a BJJ fighter, and has been training for awhile with Rener and Ryron. Apparently is pretty good. He’ll fair waaaaaay better than James Toney haha.

        • The Milkman

We’ll just have to wait and see. Having pretty good bbj as your strength doesn’t sound great.

      • taylor2008

Yes he does. He has a background in acting and fake wrestling.

  • drkdisciple

obviously all the ufc fighters want a big payday with little risk…of course they all want to welcome cm punk and fight him!

  • Hendryx

The butthurt from Askren is strong.

  • taylor2008

    I love Iaquintas response!

  • taylor2008

    Love Askrens comment too!

  • addfest

In all honestly, I believe that a lot of UFC/fight fans started out WWF/WWE fans. I sure did, as well as a huge majority of my friends. none the less–who are we to tell him that he cant fight? the UFC is no joke and if he has something to prove, lets see it. (btw CM punk is a money maker forsure regardless of what you think in my unbias opinion to both your comments lol)
