“Fight Master: Bellator MMA” Nabs Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, Greg Jackson, and Joe Warren

Posted on by Jeff Cain

Randy Couture and Frank ShamrockAt a Viacom press conference in Santa Monica, Calif. on Tuesday, Bellator MMA announced the details of its upcoming reality show that will air on Spike TV.

The reality show is dubbed “Fight Master: Bellator MMA” and will feature four coaches: Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, Greg Jackson, and Joe Warren.

The reality show will be similar to “The Ultimate Fighter” that aired on Spike TV through 14 seasons.  It will feature 32 aspiring welterweights competing in a tournament format for a six-figure payday and a slot into a future Bellator tournament.

The fighters themselves will select their coach and will decide whom they’ll face in elimination bouts.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for me moving forward and for the sport of mixed martial arts,” said Couture.

“The cornerstone of this show is really about the people behind it,” said Bellator president Bjorn Rebney.  ”The Amazing Race” creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri are the executive producers of the show.

The reality show’s filming is “immediately imminent” and is scheduled to debut this summer on Spike.

Oh Greg, what were you thinking? You know you’re on Dana’s poop-list as it is.

    • bajafox

Maybe Dana won’t let him buy tickets to his events? haha

They will really be fucked when Dana buys out Bellator !

  • Joey

Looks like Jackson’s team will be strategizing on how they can win by decision.

    dana gonna throw a trantrum

  • Sir_Roy

Really, now that I know the extent of Randy’s involvement and a little more about the project in question, I’m even more baffled at Dana’s reaction.

It’s like a T.V show that no longer requires the services of an actor, getting upset when said actor takes a role on another T.V show. Irregardless whether said program is competing for airtime, you can’t really piss on the actor for safeguarding his career and financial future by picking up golden opportunities as they present themselves elsewhere when you no longer provide a home for him … can you?

    • dd

yea but its dana, logics doesnt apply

      lol at “Irregardless”.

      • shakejunt

        what? that’s legitly a word.

        (please know i’m joking)

        • Sir_Roy

Joking or not, stating it’s a word is, in fact, ‘legit’.

      • Sir_Roy

All hail the grammar Nazi! Regardless, or irrespective your perspective, irregardless is, in fact, a word – just not a ‘proper’ word.

Look it up. Google is your friend.

          It’s still incorrect.

          • Sir_Roy

            No it isn’t.

hahaha Thank you! I caught that one too.

  • Bugster

It will really drive Dana crazy, if they put this on CBS.
Bellator also needs put a show on CBS to get it going.

  • dd

i really think they hit a jackpot with frank shamrock..he knows how to sell

You think Dana hated Jackson before?

  • kbroesq

I really think these guys are starting to take actions like this because of their contempt for the UFC, and not their love of some other organization. When Randy says, “this is a great opportunity for me to move forward in MMA,” the translation is: “They offered me a lot of money,” and F%&* the UFC.

  • rome

Should the UFC be worried…..Bellator is rising…kinda like Lowes did to Home Depot..who would of have thought…i hope not
