Undefeated M-1 featherweight champion Marat Gafurov is set to make his long awaited ONE FC debut on Oct. 17 when he fights Rob Lisita in the main event of ONE FC: Roar of Tigers at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur.
Gafurov (9-0) signed with the promotion earlier this year, but had to fulfill the final fight on his M-1 contract before he could leave. He will be headlining the second ONE FC card to take place in Malaysia this year when he takes on top featherweight contender Rob Lisita (14-6).
Lisita’s last fight was a title eliminator against Eric Kelly, but he saw his four-fight win streak snapped after being submitted in the second round by the Filipino, who is likely to challenge for the belt before the end of the year.
The Australian has an immediate opportunity to thrust himself straight back into title contention, but to do that he will have to become the first man to ever defeat Gafurov, a BJJ brown belt who is rated as one of the top featherweight prospects in the world.
In the co-main event, Malaysian-born featherweight Ev Ting (7-2) will be looking to move another step up ONE FC’s 145-pound ladder when he takes on Edward Kelly (5-1), who is the younger brother of Eric.
Ting got his ONE FC career off to the best possible start by stopping Yohan Mulia Legowo in Jakarta earlier this year and will be looking to build on this momentum against an opponent who is coming off a quick-fire submission loss at the hands of Herbert Burns.
The third fight confirmed by the promotion is a bantamweight bout between Malaysia’s Raymond Tan (2-2) and Singaporean Stephen Langdown (1-1), two fighters looking to get back in the win column after recent losses.
