Aaron Rosa will return to light heavyweight for his next fight as he faces Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldonado at UFC on Versus 6 in October.
The new fight was announced by the UFC on Wednesday.
Fabio Maldonado (18-4) made a successful debut in the UFC, finishing off former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ competitor James McSweeney, but came up short according to the judges in his 2nd bout against Kyle Kingsbury in June.
Maldonado and Kingsbury battled for all 15 minutes, but the judges gave the fight to Kingsbury in a very close decision. Now the Brazilian, who has one of the nastiest body shots in the sport, will try to bounce back when he faces Aaron Rosa in October.
A long career through several organizations finally led Aaron Rosa (16-4) to the UFC in June where he made his debut against Joey Beltran. Unfortunately, Rosa, who is a natural light heavyweight, put on a lot of extra weight to return to the heavyweight division and came up short in the fight.
Now back at 205lbs, Rosa will try his hand at the light heavyweight division when he faces Maldonado in the nation’s capital in October.
