Press Release
EXTREME WARS X-1 “Judgment Day”

Saturday, March 18th

Blaisdell Arena

Honolulu, Hawaii

The hottest, most talked about, and most controversial promotion in MMA is back! Extreme Wars X-1 returns to Honolulu, Hawaii’s Blaisdell Arena on Saturday, March 18th with a night of action featuring some of the fiercest competition that’s sure to be talked about for some time to come.

In the Main Event, Marcelo Tigre (11-3, Team Tigre) takes on the returning John “The Machine” Lober (4-6-4, Team Machine) in a battle of two of the most volatile elements in MMA. Tigre is known throughout Hawaii for his bloody battle with Wesley “Cabbage” Correira and Lober is one of the few fighters to ever defeat former UFC Champion Frank Shamrock.

Both fighters are renowned for their never-back-down brutal styles of fighting and it’s sure to be one of the destructive matches of the year. In fact, this fight took weeks of extra negotiation to make happen because of the possibility of either or both fighters or their respective corners losing their cool and going berserk! Both are training hard and ready to go to war!

Also in featured action, UFC & Pride veteran John “The Bull” Marsh (7-5, Team Neutral Grounds) returns to action for the first time since pushing Mike Van Arsdale, the so called “best wrestler to ever compete in the UFC,” to the limit at UFC 52. Marsh is scheduled to take on another top contender in the heavyweight division for a showdown of explosive proportions.

John is in the best shape of his life, focused, and deadly serious about climbing the heavyweight ladder to the top. Beware Hawaii and everywhere else because The Bull is back and he’s looking to destroy anything that gets in his path!

In a special attraction fight, Australian Danny “Death Roll” Higgins (9-2, IMA Australia) steps onto the battlefield to face Fernando Gonzalez (7-2) of Hawaii. Higgins, nicknamed “Death Roll” after the lethal move a crocodile uses to kill its prey, is one of the fiercest talents to come from down under and looks to invade Hawaii. Opposing him is Gonzalez who is riding high on a three-fight winning streak, including his debut victory over Sydney Silva at the last Extreme Wars X-1.

Higgins was brought to the attention of Extreme Wars X-1 through Middleweight King of Pancrase and UFC veteran Nathan Marquardt (who is scheduled to corner Danny) and is well known in Australia for being the bodyguard of the one and only “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin. Gonzalez better be careful or Higgins might just take a bit out of him in what promises to be an action packed fight, crykee!

Rounding out the main card is a Super Heavyweight battle as “Big” Shane Carwin (1-0, Team Impact) throws down with Matt “The Mauler” Nelson (5-0) in a battle of undefeated behemoths. Carwin is a physical specimen to behold, at 290lbs of pure ripped muscle; he impressed everyone in his MMA debut at WEC 17 last year and now looks to step up into the bigtime at Extreme Wars X-1. Nelson tips the scales at over 330lbs and is a staple of the Gladiator Challenge circuit in California where he’s gone a total of 8:54 in the ring in five fights, including his last which went a grand total of 44 seconds!

Carwin, who trains and will be cornered by Pride veteran “H20 Man” Ron Waterman, is a former Division-II National Wrestling Champion who attended the NFL combines after graduating college and will be looking to sack the opposition. The question is, can he takedown the gargantuan Nelson? This one promises to shake the very foundations of the Blaisdell Arena as over 600lbs of pure testosterone-fueled aggression steps into the cage where only one man will leave undefeated!

The undercard promises fireworks as well as local Hawaiian standouts duking it out for the Extreme Wars X-1 Hawaiian Championships. Title matches include Mark Moreno (9-6-2, Bull’s Pen) locking horns with Ross Da Boss (10-3, BJ Penn’s MMAA) for 175lbs island supremacy. Moreno is known for taking on all comers including Chris Brennan and Jason Miller, while Ross is one of the island’s hottest commodities after having destroyed Jason Donahue recently!

Not to be outdone, Harris Sarmiento (20-12, 808 Fight Factory) and “Wildman” Kolo Koka (11-9, TMMAD) rematch their insane 2004 bout, this time with a title on the line and Koka looking for revenge! Rounding out the title scraps will be Jim Kikuchi (6-4, 808 Fight Factory) and Laffayette Barelo (5-0, FIT NHB), can local favorite Kikuchi stop the undefeated ways of the invading New Mexican? Find out at Extreme Wars X-1 “Judgment Day!”

Along with all the above great match-ups, fellow local talents will be looking to make their mark, including:

Miles “The Hawaiian Experiment” Tynnanes
Eddie Sua
Kevin Delima

And many more to be added…

Extreme Wars X-1 will have a huge production of sound & lights accompanied by a lot of Hawaiian ring girl hard bodies all orchestrated by MMA veteran announcer and bonafide madman “Voice of the Cage” Jeff Weller! “Judgment Day” looks to be bigger and badder than last July’s Extreme Wars X-1 show that people are still talking about!

Get your tickets early because there won’t be any left when Extreme Wars X-1 rocks the Blaisdell Arena on Saturday, March 18th a second time. This will be an MMA night to remember, Extreme Wars X-1 “Judgment Day,” prepare for WAR!
